I have collected knives for 40+ years, but generally pocket knives until I joined the Corps. I then concentrated on simple, utility fixed blades for use in the field. Back in 1980 when I joined, my main folder was a Buck 110 (still have it). I recently decided to look for a good, solid, working folder and decided on the Spyderco Paramilitary D2 for the design, feel, steel & reputation.
It meets and exceeds my "initial" expectations. The balance, feel, ease of operation and visual is awesome. I was pleasantly suprised at how easy and fast it is to open & close. The only thing keeping this from being perfect out of the box is the tip-down carry, but we'll take care of that if needed.
Here's a few shots in the back yard.
