I have collected knives for 40+ years, but generally pocket knives until I joined the Corps. I then concentrated on simple, utility fixed blades for use in the field. Back in 1980 when I joined, my main folder was a Buck 110 (still have it). I recently decided to look for a good, solid, working folder and decided on the Spyderco Paramilitary D2 for the design, feel, steel & reputation.

It meets and exceeds my "initial" expectations. The balance, feel, ease of operation and visual is awesome. I was pleasantly suprised at how easy and fast it is to open & close. The only thing keeping this from being perfect out of the box is the tip-down carry, but we'll take care of that if needed. ;)

Here's a few shots in the back yard.

I haven't heard of one person who wasn't satisfied with their D2 para, including me.
They are awesome knives that perform wonderfully.

Great Pics for a really great folder. I EDC the Para and switch off with my Lone Wolf Diablo w/ S30V steel. Both open with ease. I worked the edge on both and can't decide which steel I like the best. I favor the flat grind on both these knives. I open and close the Para by pressing the lock and a little flick of the wrist. The hair on my arm jumps off when the blade is about 1/2" away from making contact.:D You will enjoy the Para D2 for years. I think it's one of Spyderco's finest. Best of luck with your new purchase.

+1... The Para is spreading like wild fire..

I've noticed that too. And for anyone who thinks the proportions are off, somehow your perspective is altered when it's in hand and you realize how perfect it feels. Honestly, it still looks wonky in pics to me, but when I'm using the Para it looks and feels completely symmetrical. Glesser voodoo or something.

I realize I'm edging dangerously close to fanboy status with all my Para-ganda and gushing, but this knife is so sweet to hold and use that I don't really care. Gimme a P! Gimme an A! Gimme a R!....

Its beautiful, I just wish they would bury that annoying tang into the bottom of the pocket with a tip up clip. I would then be able to justify buying another paramilitary.

I love the look of that para so much! Only thing holding me back at the moment is the possibility of an orange sprint run para. I don't know how much longer I can wait with all these people posting their pics and raving about how amazing they are! :D

Great images and congradulations! I don't see anything ever dethroning my CPM D2 Para Military as favorite EDC hard user knife.

.... My D2 Para has the same effect on me, It has never left my side since the day I bought it.
