After just spending some big bucks to remodel my bathroom I was hesitant about buying another knife at this time (I really have tried to restrain my addiction but have not been very successful.) However after reading so many posts about Justin's Ranger knives I went ahead and ordered the RD9.

Received it yesterday and this is one awesome (OK so the word is overused) knife and am really happy with it. Want to put it to use this weekend.

I asked for and got full flat grind .035" behind the edge and Justin was quick in making it and sending it out.

I really need to take a break from reading these forums because the temptations are too great and all you guys are not helping with your great reviews.

How close to your specifications did he get the edge bevel? How consistent is the grind along the edge? How was the initial sharpness?

All of Cliff’s questions + rough or smooth texture on the micarta, and what kind of screws?

To my untrained eyes the bevel appeared to be very even. The blade was not hair popping sharp out of the box but my sharpmaker took care of that in short order.

The black and gray Micarta handles were what I would call semi-rough and the screws were black torx type.

Thanks for the details.

5160 is nice to sharpen. I’ve had no problem keeping my RD7 sharper than it was when it arrived.
