Man, what a sleek little knife. I'd posted in the WTB forum but got no bites (ya CRK-hoardin' bastids) -- until another forumite put me in contact with a dealer in CA (MooreKnives@yahoo.com) that had several NIB. It just arrived today with a calfskin slipcase, and I have to say that I continue to be amazed by the solid craftsmanship coming out of Boise. Granted that the craftsmanship on this one goes back to 1998, but you know what I mean.

Now if the latest crop of snakewood-inlaid Mnandis would just show up at TNK....

Congrats on your Umfaan. I recently purchased an Umfaan myself. It came with a Unique Graphic. The Umfaan is truly an awesome knife. ;) ;)

I don't know if mine is a "unique graphic" model -- 30 rings inscribed all over the non-locking scale, which I was told was the standard design -- but it is definitely my new LFP "Sure, I've got a knife" knife that I'll use when unsure of others' bladefriendliness.

I just wish it had larger thumb lugs. I know that it's a Sebenza that's been miniaturized for smaller tasks, but my thumbs aren't quite so adaptable sizewise. I guess I'll just have to develop yet another callus.

Congratulations, the Umfaan is a nice knife. I use my small Sebenza a lot, but the Umfaan is convenient to have on your person all the time as it takes up little space and weighs almost nothing. A miniature marvel of quality.

I'm on my second Umfaan, having lost my "zigzag" model. That hurt! If you EDC the Umfaan, have a secure method of carry - a good sheath or lanyard to your belt. It's easy to lose.

I stripped one of the screw heads while disassembly so it's going back to CRK for a new set plus polishing of the hollow ground.

Enjoy.

If your Umfaan is the one at the top of page I linked to then it is not a Unique Graphic model. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=14228

I'm glad I could help you in finding the Umfaan that you were looking for. I was surprised to find someone that had so much new old stock. I was looking for a large BG42 Sebenza and ask Mr. Moore (at the Oregon knife show) if had any, he asked how many did I want? He had a whole big box full of large and small ones that never even been unwrapped! :D

Tim, I'm sorry I didn't give credit where it was due!! I'd still be begging on the WTB form if you hadn't gone out of your way -- THANKS!

I agree that this "little boy" (that's what 'umfaan' means, isn't it?) will be riding shotgun from here on out.

There were lots of Reeve products at the Oregon Show, indeed. Between the vendors there, I believe I handled every single folder and one piece in the Reeve Line, except for some really rare ones. Excellent show to attend.

I wasn't trying to claim the credit, just trying to help spread the word that there is someone out there that has a few new older knives if someone was looking and if anyone is wondering, no I don't get any kind of commission.
:D

Wouldn't even have crossed my mind. I picked up a knife for a friend of mine at the show and have done so for other folks on occasion. Not many of us have the chance to be at a show like the OKCA with so many ABS smiths and other talented knifemakers, plus scads of vendors.
