Just received two new additions, (a Linder and a Bulldog), increasing my collection's "made in Germany" count...

The Linder 'Kris' is new and of recent manufacture, while the Bulldog is in mint condition, but pre-owned.

I don't know what generation the Bulldog is, maybe 5th or 6th generation?
If anyone knows, please school me on this Bulldog slip joint pocket knife.

I have only one other Bulldog slip joint in my collection, and I must say, I'm very pleased with their construction 😊

Thank you!
While perusing some Linder online vendors, I read a couple different comments stating that Linder was closing it's doors this year.
So, it will be yet another old name cutlery going DoDo Bird.
No no no.... man that is the saddest news I've heard in a while. God freaking damn it. They were my 2nd favorite brand after Joker. In fact, I probably have more Linder blades than I have Joker. Heart breaking. Crap.

I doubt the vendors were incorrect, but... I don't know for sure. I'm sorry to have been the bearer of bad news 😔
Maybe now is the time to stock up on any you've possibly been holding off on.
I just ordered the Snake-Wood version of the Linder Dagger above... I like the coolness of these little Kris Daggers! 😊

On the contrary, thanks for letting me know. I might be able to persuade my wife to let me buy some before I'm never able to again. What a tragedy. The hoplophobic EU probably taxed them into oblivion too. It is as if the West just wanted to let PRC produce everything and ultimately win.

One thing that holds me back though... I read on a site the steel was not 420HC but 420J which is wallhanger trash. You think that's true?

No, these dagger blades were forged years ago in Germany. The steel is German, roughly equivalent to USA's 420HC, which is tough when heat treated correctly. In the case of such a knife as these Kris daggers, the toughness is more important than edge holding.

Here is the pertinent info right off of Linder's website...

Bulldog is, I believe, 3rd Generation. 1993.

Looks to be a 2nd generation 3 7/8 stockman with Banner shield, BKC# 142. 1 of 348 made.
3rd generation Bulldogs have a date on the tang next to the Fighting Bulldogs stamp.

Linder kris snakewood is co cute :^)
Yeah, the word "cute" fits it well, these are not big daggers and they have quite an elegant look about them 👍

I was most excited about getting the Linder 'Kris' Dagger, but after receiving both the Kris and the Bulldog pocket knife in my mail yesterday, I think it's the Bulldog that I'm most stoked about... It's really such a nice little knife to add into my collection, and I really had not added any new pocket knives into my collection in quite some time.
