Has anyone else used this sharpener? I have used it on several knives And almost feel guilty about how fast it is to get such a razor sharp blade. A good friend told me never to use it on a busse but I have no clue why. He didnt really tell me why just don't. Has anyone ever used this sharpener on a busse and if so what did you think?

I have used it on a SH,NO and a Mefo.Also on a SYKW 911.
They are all razors now.I bought a bunch of belts from Micro mesh and just take my time going through each grit.Just because you can sharpen a knife in 5 minutes, doesn't mean you should!:D

I am very satisfied with the Worksharp on my Busse knives.

Great advice bigretic Thank you. Im expecting my first 2 (Of Many) Busse knives this week. The system is really good, I will look for those belts. Thanks

I've got a work sharp

I liked it, but I prefer stones. I find ten therapeutic lol

My work sharp got the knives sharp quickly, but found I didn't appreciate the edge as much ( I know I'm weird)

Since then, my work sharp has gotten retired to tool sharpening. It is a god send when sharpening a machete

They work great though

There are several threads on this topic, check em out. And beware, don't push hardly at all or you will lose alot of steel quick and screw up lines... otherwise its a great tool once you understand what its capable of and how to use it properly. And use it on any steel ONCE you have practiced on many knives.. It can be a dream or a nightmare.. gl!

The WS works great on Busses. The guide will scratch satin blades so practice freehand.
The only other concern is rounding off the tips on your knives.
When sharpening with the guide, I stop just before the tip then remove the guide and blend in the tip freehand.

I must confess, since I got a 1x30 belt sander the WS does not get much use.

Some Busse knives have an asymmetrical edge grind and if you want to maintain that grind you don't want to use a Work Sharp or any belt sander. Perhaps that is what your friend was referring to. I think is was an earlier version thing, because most of the Busse & kin knives I'm familiar with have a convex edge, which the Work Sharp is perfect for.

Great Info guys thanks. Im looking at great articles on here and now just need to find the great after market belts that people talk about. Im love N this site !!!!!

Just do a search for micro mesh and check out the 1/2 X 12" belts. Work Sharp has good selection of belts now, that they did not have when I bought mine.

I would like to get a 1X30 or a 1X42 belt grinder some day, but so far I have been able to do on my Work Sharp all I need to do on my knives. The larger grinder would be handy for other grinding chores in my shop, like custom scales for instance, or other wood working jobs.

Now you tell me. I indeed found that it sands the freakin tip right off! You make "blend in the tip freehand" sound so easy!
