I recieved a buck 503 prince knife as an early christmas gift from a friend of mine that lives out of state. Does anybody else carry this knife, or can tell me if the knife is any good?

You better believe it is. It is a nice knife for all types of cutting needs. It is rather small, but it is a high quality Buck. I would be proud to get one from a friend. Good luck with it, it is a beauty!

Sweet! Thanks for the info, maybe it will make a good pocket carry companion for my Leatherman Wave that is on my belt all the time.

I'm sure it will. The old tried and true Buck knife is still one of the most popular in the world. I own 3 Buck knives. I have a 110 a 112 and a special edition Lancer, with jigged bone handle. It is pretty nice.

My boss at work has a 110 he has carried on his hip for over 30 years now and swears by it. It is very well used, but still razor sharp and the locking mechanism still locks up like a vault door! If the 503 is built anything like the 110, I am sure i will enjoy it for my lifetime as well, and my kids after me. I have a Case stockman with stainless steel blades and they dont hold an edge long at all, so hopefully this will be my new companion.

I just picked up one of these today to stifle the knife buying urge a bit. :D

The knife is awesome. The blade locks up perfect with a nice snap, the edge is good and sharp out of the box, and it's also a real nice looking knife. A great value for a made in US little folder, IMO.

a friend of mine had one a few years ago and it endured things that would make your hair fall out. aside from a little lateral play it came through with flying colors.

I have had one for a month or so and I really like it. Great size and shape plus it is very well built. I have been carrying mine along with my swisstool alot and they make a good pair.

My girlfriend's father carries one habitually, and I held it and like it so much, I almost bought one, bought spent the money towards a Spyderco Massad Ayoob instead.

It turns out I didn't need to, because he got me one last Christmas. :D What a guy.

For being a small knife, it has done tasks better than some bigger folding knives. In fact today, it was used too help skin a deer and still has its amazing scary sharp edge on it. Me and the 503 are gonna get along just fine i think!

I have been looking at Bucks on the internet. I want a 503 in stag. I think that would be a very cool combination. Will report back later as to what I have found.

I just saw a Cadet and a Companion with stag handles. I also saw a 503 Prince with Coral and mokume which was out of stock, but is incredible! There are so many nice Bucks it is mind boggling. I like 420 steel. I have never had a problem with it. I always sharpen my knives to a razor edge, so they cut very well. I always am sharpening, and I like it. The blades cut like a hot knife through butter. I sure think they are pretty swell.

GREAT knife! I had one for a while... actually I gave it to a friend, but I don't remember who.. dang.

Great knife. Other than my boyscout utility knife it was my first knife & it followed me all the way through Desert Storm where I lost it & it had Ebony scales (which you can't get anymore). AWESOME Knife!

I wanted one for some time, but Wally World, the cheapest place I found them, wanted a few pennies more the Buck 110 cost there - gargantuan in comparison. My wife ended my insanity - and bought me one last Christmas. It's a great 'Gent's knife' - perfect for those dress-up clothes. It's size shouldn't intimidate anyone. You'll never have to apologize for it's sharpness, if you keep it 'touched up', edge-wise. Great size - and those nickel silver bolsters add some flair, too. Now, get lost on a deserted island, and that 110 would be a better choice!
