Just Released Today! C141CF Balance

As much as i love Ed's design that price point is way too prohibitive for the size of the knife. I mean the Sage 1 is carbon fiber with S30v, this is vg-10 with carbon fiber and it's a lot smaller. I'm curious why it's so expensive. Is it because of the Ed Schempp name on the knife? is it the odd blade shape causing more work for the factory? I just can't justify paying that much for for it.

Cute little Kukri. I also think this is way to much money for this knife. Additionally I will bet that it is made in Japan since it is VG-10.

Yeah, it appeals to me too, looks like a nice little useful knife. Just can't bring myself to drop $100-$130 on it. Maybe $55-$85. Hopefully the Stainless version to come out later doesn't weigh a ton and brings the price down some. Will be keeping an eye on it though.

I like the knife and don't mind its price. Went to check it out at the SFO, but in the end didn't get one because of the clip: for me, such a small knife would reside in the bottom of the pocket and the clip interferes with the look and feel I expect from such a small knife. Removing the clip leaves the handles looking like swiss cheese, full of holes (which I think already looks bad in larger knives, but that destroys the look of a smaller knife), really defeating the purpose of having nice-looking CF scales. In the end I decided not to get one. Stainless steel is not a pocket-friendly scale material, either, therefore I'll skip that one, too.

However, I must say that I like the way it looks (other than what I mentioned above) and feels in the hand. It's a great little knife that I would like very much to have. I don't know how the blade would work in EDC tasks, but I suspect I would be pleasantly surprised, as I have been in the past with other Spyderco knives with less usual shapes.

Sweet looking little piece. I'll pay extra for the country of origin. Thanks for giving me the option!

Were I not to be short on funds currently, I would immediately buy one. This looks like the perfect utilitarian EDC to use around NKP's. Even "rudimentary" FRN scales would be fine with me.

Love the looks and seems like it would 2nd as a nice money clip.

Looking forward to some hands on reviews from those ordering one!

How long have you been collecting? Although I only have about 6. The Kopa, two endua, the Tenacity, and a Sage CF, I feel like I'm runing out of 3" - 3.5", line locking, SV30, VG10, or ZDP blade steel, under 100 bucks!

I might be persuded to get some of the new Sages with different locking mechanisms.

I got mine from Tom Berry yesterday (Thanks, Tom!). Yes, it's small. Ugly? Not so much, to me. The first thing that has to be said about the one I received is that the quality and fit and finish are remarkable. JUst remarkable in every way. I can't say that about the Michael Walker ZDP I had. With the naked eye, I tried to find something wrong with it and there just plain isn't. They even polished the liner edges and all rough edges like the Bradley except to more of a satin sheen rather than mirror. And the design and style work really well for a smaller knife. I've been trying to find a smaller knife that I don't want to sell immediately and right now, this Balance is tempting the hell out of me to keep her.

But again, the build quality, F&F are meticulous and as good as any top knife coming out of Taiwan right now. I almost want to think that the recent top offerings from Taiwan have raised the bar for the other Spyderco shops and if that is the case, Japan listened and reacted. Great Job, Spyderco and MFG's!

I'll post my thoughts more completely after work and takes some pictures.

Too expensive for a knife a little over 10 cm. I've seen it in a video somewhere, and it's just too small.
I like the design though. The symmetry when it's closed is a very nice touch.

Looks like it would be a graet self defense knife and legal pretty much everywhere. It needs to be waved though.

Then it wouldn't be so "Balanced" anymore. Not that I don't like your idea. ;)

I got one on the way and I don't think it's overpriced. Size rarely makes a lot of difference in manufacturing, especially when it comes to fit and finish. And if it's as nicely made as folks have been saying, then it'll be worth it.

Edit: I just got it and yes it's worth the price for me. I missed out on the CF Cricket so this fills that spot nicely. Great fit and finish as expected.
