I was sitting here watching Monday Night Football and on the computer watching the SMKW knife show. Chuck Buck came on for about 20 minutes. They didn't even try to sell a knife. Chuck talked about the 110, the 112, the new factory and then the new 110 / 112 transition knife. I learned stuff I didn't know. He ended it with a prayer.

I have never heard Chuck before and he came across as honest and sincere. Sorry I didn't post this earlier, but I was too into it. It was a real treat. Well, back to the football game.

Chuck said they made the 112 because of a law on the military bases that you can only carry a knife with a 3" blade. Since the popular 110 was larger they came up with the 112.

I wonder if the MP at Fort Polk, LA would've let me keep my knife if it was a 112 instead of the 110 he "confiscated"?

That makes sense to me. I bought my 112 in 1972 at the San Diego Navy Base. I was looking for a 110 but all they had was this new thing they called a 112. It didn't even have the nice wood scales. I had to settle for the black micarta. :D 34 years later, I still have it. Great little knife.
