... and let me tell you, this is, by far, the absolute BEST movie I have ever seen, bar NONE. For starters, even though it was a semi end-of-the-world type movie, everything was kept to a believable level. The injuries people sustained weren't toned down like they are in most movies, yet weren't blown so far out of proportion as to be ridiculous. Examples: A contact shot from a 12 gauge litterally ripped half of a guy's head off when the lead balls and expanding gases exited, and when someone got run over by an APC, his inards came out various orifices. Gory, but realistic. The fighting and gunplay was realistic, at least as far as I could tell. There were no fancy martial arts moves or anything like that. The good guys fought as I would expect highly trained special forces would, with many improvised weapons and everyday objects used when necessary. There are some brutal eye gouges and bites too. There was one part where the Major does a backflip during a fight, but even that was believable, given the situation and her skill level. The fighting in this movie really puts the fight scenes from the Bourne trilogy to shame. The movie is mostly set in 2035, and the firearms reflect this. They are futuristic looking, but believable. (Think the newer Beretta's, but a bit MORE futuristic-looking). None of this space-gun crap like the weapons from Alien.
All of this was tied together with almost non-stop action, and a great (if a bit cliche) plot-line. I don't usually buy DVD's, but this is one I'll be picking up.
