I liked the movie; about 90% action with a message about the long civil war and senseless killing in Burma. The credits seemed to last twenty minutes and the movie seemed to employ a thousand or two thousand people.

I rather liked the huge machete blade by Gill Hibben. I hope the movie is a winner. I hope to see it again.

I really enjoyed it too!!!

One of the better ones in the series - pretty damn intense.

Saw it last night at a special showing, and am going to see it again tonight!

Wow! Snakebite.
You must be a diehard Rambo fan.
Seein' that you actually registered for this forum and made your first post about the movie here.
Welcome!
Come on, lets here more about the knife in action...

The knife isn't a real character in the movie as it has been. It's just a down and dirty tool Rambo makes to get the job done. Saying that, it's a helluva chopper!!

I really enjoyed the flick!!

I too enjoyed the movie more than i thought i would.
Call me nostalgic, but was a good old fashioned action flick like i grew up with in the 80's. Also as stated before - had a message concerning the genocide in Burma.
Considering Stallone's age and how long this character has been "out of action" he should be very proud of this picture; entertainment and message wise.
Knife is impressive in that it is in fact one big hunk of steel meant for business. I missed out on the LILE knives as at the time i could never afford such pieces. I did in fact buy one of Gil's copies from this installment.

It was fantastic! The knife wasn't as pivotal as a charactor (it really didn't need to be this time) but just as impressive as the previous movies. The knife was very appropriate for the conditions and the urgency of which he made it.

Stallone really was outstanding and was all business...very gruff, seasoned and "been there done that attitude" very satisfying.

The ending was super cool...coming full circle.

I will be seeing it again :)

Excellent movie! But I must disagree with some of the above posts, the new knife is much more of a character in this film than in II and III. In both of those films, the knives are barely used or seen. In this film, we see it forged, used to rescue hostages, and in the process gut some bad guys. I'd say this knife was used almost as much as the original Lile knife was used in the original film.

The knife in this movie was all business. It was rude, crude, and got the job done. The forging scene was better than I expected and I'm glad it didn't get cut.

Supposedly there was going to be a scene where Rambo loses his knife from III, we know because Stallone asked Gil to make him one for just one scene. So either it was never filmed or it was cut from the movie.

I enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would. I expected just action, but the message about Burma was very much there. 2 and 3 were trying to say things as well, but it got lost in the action.

Well done forging scene. It didn't go over the top, it conveyed a sense that his skills were enough to make a workable tool.

Comparing the knife from photos to the movie shots, I liked the movie shots better. Looking at high quality photos, it loses the very primitive feel the movie gives it.

Correct me if I am wrong, didn't one of the mercs have one if the Lile knives? It was a quick shot, so I couldn't quite make it out for sure.

I just wish this was the quality movie Sly made all of the time. He has more ability than most his movies show or he gets credit for.

I don't know if it was definitely a Lile knife, but it was certainly similar. Then again, aren't most "survival knives" similar to the original Lile knife?

EvanBNW - very true! I just figured with Stallone being a knife guy, he MIGHT try to use the genuine article. I am also curious about the Applegate/Fairbairn style dagger, which inarnation was that?

Again, with Stallone being a knife guy, I would like to think these were all genuine pieces.

Cant wait to see it..Seen Cloverfield tonight..They should call it "Field Of Crap"..What a TURD!! Ironman clip looks KA!! ;).. Bring On Rambo!!

I'm hoping that when the new Rambo comes out on dvd, Stallone does a bonus feature on the knives of Rambo. It would be cool to see him talking about the knives and their importance, hell throw an interview with Hibben in while he's at it.

Reliable sources (moderators) indicate Sly is a member of this forum. Wouldn't surprise me if he does some commentary on the knives.
