Hi,
Im new to knife making, but a fairly competent handwork smith. This forum seems to have friendly and informative members. Im hoping, with your help, to learn to be a respectable bladesmith. Ive gathered a great deal of 5160 over the years that I use for tooling, I like its toughness and edge holding ability, so I thought Id start with it, plus Im cheep. Im in the process of making two blades with it at the moment, I'd post a picture, but apparently it must be located on a web page first. I use a coal forge, and am in the process of building a gas forge for knife heat treating. I have a few odd ideas about how to do things, so be as patient with me as you can. At the moment Im making a knife vice. Ill post pictures of it when its finished, if i can figure out how and if anyone is interested.
Bob
