I was in at the local knife shop last week and picked up a few knives including a Turret for camping. I saw the dealer had a 551-1. I was over that way this afternoon and to my surprise it was still there. So I ended up buying it. It is very smooth out of the box compared to my original griptilian, which needed to be broken in.

I figure it will be my last pocket knife, 😂

I bought it through my local dealer so price was knocked down a bit. But yes for an EDC, which I bought it for, it was expensive.

It feels good in the hand. Believe it or not, I like the feel of the original better. I have a large hand and it fills my hand better.

I have one in the sheepsfoot blade and thumb hole, and I was absolutely taken back by how smooth it was out of the box as well as how sharp it is. It's absolutely one of the most comfortable knives I've held.

Yep. I have one as well. I think it is a 550, IIRC. I was a gift from on of the members here. I also have a H2o 551, and an issue 551 with a NSN number. But, the one I carry the most is a plain 551 that I put orange scales on so that I don’t loose it.

I still have problems keeping track of it. I am beginning to have problems keeping track of my wallet and keys, too. This is not good.

I have the 556-1 (the mini-Grip version of the 555-1) and I like it a lot. I've pretty much completely switched over to slipjoints, but this is the one locking folder I will hang on to.

Congrats on your new knife - hope you enjoy it.
