I found this brand new in box at my local dealer. I had glanced at it a couple of times before, but not noticed what it was. Today I figured it out and scooped it up. I usually don't dig serrations, but I could not pass this up. So I guess this will be my one serrated blade. Plus this one came with two stickers in the box. Bonus!

Man this the third Emerson within three weeks! I just can't help it, these awesome blades just keep finding me and begging me to take them home.

I don't know if it's the hard chrome plating on the blade or what, but other than the Iron Dragon, this is the smoothest Emerson I have ever seen out of the box, and it has no lock stick whatsoever. It also has pretty much perfect f&f, and the blade is nicely centered, and very early and solid lockup.

Overall, my first impression is

EDIT:
The factory edge on this blade was wanting to say the least. All of my Emerson's have always come with good to great factory edges, but this one not so much.

The angle was very obtuse, maybe 45* or more, and about as honed as a resteraunt steak knife. The serrated part of the blade was fine, razor sharp. Just the plain edge needed work. I re profiled it to 30*. The hard chrome plating made it quite a job. I left it a little toothy for now, about 800 grit. I may polish it later, don't know.

I didn't take any before shots, but here's an after pic. What do you all think?

Nice score! The Specwar-A BTS was the 1st Emerson I ever owned 15 years ago and have been a user/fan of the brand ever since.

Man what a great find. That's a great local dealer you have.

Yes they are great. This things been sitting there since they were reissued, and no one picked it up. Like I said, I didn't even realize it until I took a close look today. Once I realized what it was, I grabbed it. He also gave me a great deal, but I buy all my knives from him, and he always gives me crazy good prices on Emerson's.

Nice find for sure! I had no idea they did standoffs back then. Am I seeing that right? 2001 on the blade?! NOS for sure.

In 2013 or 2014 they did a very limited run with some old blades that they found in storage. This is one of them. Not sure how many they made, but I believe it was only a couple of hundred, and they went quick.

Really special one for sure then! Is that a cerakoted blade?

So the collection is growing. I think 8 is a nice round number; Until it becomes 9. :D

The 3 on the right are the newest additions.

Yeah, that hard chrome is awesome. Rockwell at over 120. I wish EKI would offer blades with that finish but I think it's due to restrictions set by the state for chemical processes that are really bad. Especially being close to the coast. My work couldn't use the heavy duty solvents like in the past. I could be wrong.

Once again, Nice Score!

Hey now that is a nice knife you got there. Lucky you, your collection is getting bigger. Didn't you just score a Iron Dragon too?

Yes I did! It's the bottom right in the picture. The one with the silver pivot and screws.

ebidis, that new edge looks fantastic. Free hand?

Thanks, I used the Lansky system. I do almost everything freehand, but for a serious re profile I use my Lansky. The original edge was seriously almost non existent, and that hard chrome is a pita! Took me almost 4 hours.
