I am proud to note that today I got my first Camillus TL-29!

I got it online from a Flea Market in the 757 area code of VA.

It came in a small sealed plastic bag and still had cosmoline on it!

This is a real thumb-buster! I think I am in love.

On a separate note I now own both pocket knives carried by my grandfathers. One carried a two bladed Barlow and the other carried the TL-29.

Now if I can only figure out which one will go in my pocket!

Congrats on your score

I had a Craftsman model, picked up at a knife club meeting for 3 bucks, I believe. Used, but the former owner had put a razor edge on it. Another one of those "why did you ever get rid of it" moments. Great knife.

Growing up my father always seemed to have a few camillus TL-29 around ussually next to a camillus demo knife. My father called the TL-29 a electrician's knife. This was back in the 70's. I would help him on weekends at the rental properties he managed and he made it a point that I kept a TL-29 in my pocket because of their utility. I always think about those days whenever I see the trusty old TL-29. I managed to keep one of those TL-29 and a demo knife from those times.

I have a TL-29 that my mom's father carried, and the story was that he carried it in WWII. (I need to look up the tang marks and see when the knife was made, and confirm that.) He was part of the Army of Occupation in Japan right after the surrender; I wonder if he carried this on with him when he was there? We may never know . . .

thx - cpr
