Well I just sent my Paramilitary to STR to get a new lowrider clip for tip up carry. I can't wait to get it back. I am really enjoying carrying my RAT model 1 (early edition, before the falling out). I am excited to get it back, mostly because I have seen STR's work and I have been wanting one for a while but needed to get some pocket time (to let the newness wear off) before I could part with it. I am also eager to get it back because I had some friction at the local post office this morning when I tried to mail it off. They almost didn't let me send it. Said I needed to be an"authorized person" to send it. I was like what ever that means, how do you think I got the knife in the first place, not to mention the fact that I mailed it home from deployment and that was international. So after a minor debate they let me mail it...I just hope it doesn't get lost or confiscated. I probably won't sleep good till it gets back, partly because its my favorite knife but mostly because here is just one more government agency thats out to screw law abiding citizens...hope I am just worrying for nothing. Good thing I was in uniform and not dressed in street clothes...funny thing was two people in the post office stopped and thanked me for my service ( that never gets old), I always thank them back, for renewing my faith in why I serve. Keeping the faith in this great country is harder than you might think these days.

First of all, thanks for serving! Much appreciated!!!

Secondly, out of curiosity, how did they know you were sending a knife? I've been contemplating an STR clip lately myself for my Para.

Because I insured my knife and they needed to see what I was sending. Also I took the knife into the post office in its original box. I didn't think I needed to be deceitful because the knife doesn't violate any laws in my area or the area I am sending it to. Besides they x ray all the mail anyhow and I didn't want the description on the package to be different from what they saw in an xray. I don't consider my knife to be a dangerous weapon, I forget that other people are always on the look out for WMD's...

I have NEVER had to show the PO was I was mailing a knife!! I insure my stuff all the time.

Same here, for a domestic shipment anyway. I thought I understood it as you were sending the knife from the USA to the USA. Were you shipping from out of the country to STR? For domestic, I have never had to declare what is in the box, even with insurance. If I don't do it online, and talk to the person at the counter, they just ask if I want insurance and how much.

Well, we will see what happens. This isn't the first time I had to show something that I was insuring. I mailed some sunglasses back to oakley for repair work...same deal. Yes this is a domestic shipment...Actually just up the road in OK.

Well good news...my para made it to Steve and is already finished and on its way back to me. Steve posted some pics of it on his forum, the knife looks great as expected. I have already made the picture my backround on my computer so oogle it until I get to fondle it again...

I think you'll like it.

Start printing your own labels at home and avoid dealing with any of them and save some $ at the same time. Printing your own you get delivery confirmation at no extra charge and its still a nickel less than just priority mail by itself if you stand in line. Takes all of ten or fifteen minutes to set up an account and start doing your own. Then all you need is a good scale to weigh the packages which you can buy probably all over town or at the USPS.

My wife looks pretty good with your knife on her huh? Seriously I had to grab her to use cause my pockets are so chewed up it would have ruined the effect. :D

Well the short wait is finally over. My new and improved para found its way back home and straight into my pocket...It looks great and rides in the pocket great. Completely out of sight. Great job Steve and thanks for the prompt service. I really appreciate the attention to detail.
