BM 730, 750, Opinel 8, and a CS med clip pt voyager
I used my fine dia-sharp, 600 grit sheet on my HandAmerican luthier kit, a pass on each side with the ceramic rod in the HA kit, and then 4-5 passes each side on a Knives Plus loaded strop block and a couple passes on the HA steel on the blades that were wonky in spots. (for those who know, yes, I used a Knives Plus strop even though the HA kit comes with different grades of leather *I even got an extra cause my order was late, excellent service*)
This went very quickly, making 5 back & forth passes on each side on the diamond & 600, with fingertips on the blade for stability. I used what I consider moderate pressure, and moved fairly slowly. I had never sharpened the Opinel before this, and the other 3 were 'cheap knife' sharp. Now they all shave respectably, but nothing scary. I finished off by cleaning up and putting a little Tuf-Glide on the carbon Opinel blade, none of the pivots seemed to need treatment.
I have paper strips up to 2500, if I feel frisky.
Anyway, just wanted to mention it, since I haven't really sharpened in a while (using a Lansky doesn't count
) and I love that this forum is here on BF now.
