I had a Forum member contact me about doing a polished BK14, I had one in stock so I started this project that I thought I'd share. He's "considering" the purchase as I write this.

I made up a set of shortened scales, since what's the point of polishing the handle if you're just going to cover it up??? :D

Though I seem to be doing a lot of polishing lately, frankly, I hate it. I like machines to do the work, not my elbow.

That is all...

That looks very interesting and I can't imagine how much work that was, even though I prefer a satin finish in a working blade.

That looks great. I really like the contrast. Did you make the scales from sratch, or shorten the stock ones?

I do like the shiny ones...I just beat my knives up to much to put all that work in them LOL

I REALLY like the short scales, looks like modded zytel??

I may have to do that to a set.

This gent shouldn't consider it too long, thats a nice looking blade for sure.

Yeah, they are the stock scales. I like to open up the lanyard hole on the factory scales for the -14, and when I was drilling out this set one of them got caught on the drill and cracked. Make lemonade out of lemons, I always say, and added, "Oh, I meant to do that!" :D

Not much happening in Beckerworld this morning, pouring rain here, so I figured I'd share the latest trick.

looks pretty nice. what do you use to polish it?

Media blasted the factory finish off, then did lots of wet sanding, finishing with a buffing wheel. Tried using my reloading brass vibratory tumbler to make it shinier, but it didn't work. It actually dulled the finish slightly and I had to use the buffing wheel again.

That is a good looking little 14. A few more of these polished up ones and your fore arms are gonna look like Popeye.

You mean...they don't now???

They do, but not from sanding knives. I also couldn't help but notice your right is larger......

:D

BTW I love these 'blasted zytel scales. I will have to round up some of mine and send them to ya, have a great feel and I like the matte finish.

But I'm left-handed ! (seriously)

Send 'em along. It takes about all of 20 seconds per set, but makes a world of difference in the hand.

Oh, BTW. The Forum member "considered" long and hard and this knife has a new home.
