I was going to do another Christmas tree chopping thread today but I ended up just having fun with a couple blades and forgot about making a big deal over the tree. It's been some time since I've done some chopping and that made today a really good day!

I got out the new Basic 9 I picked up from Dennis (in Ma.) and the CF Sarsquatch I bought from Skunk at Blade West, and went to town in my back yard. Good times!

Look at this bad boy, all clean and comfy from its life in a sheath. Well, not for long my good friend...

I didn't bust it up much but I did give it a good workout (and myself too).

The amazing thing is after all was said and done she cleaned up with nary a mark. I need to try harder with these Basics!

And the squatch...I expected it to run well and it did. Not the best size or weight bias (for me) for a chopper but it was fun nevertheless.

I made it through the christmas tree, delimbing and cutting the base into toothpicks, then I limbed and hacked at that skinny old thing above that's got to come out by next spring.

Great shots. I have a CF Sarsquatch on the way and it's nice to see it's size and might. I was starting to wonder if it would be a good chopper or not.
And I like that Basic9. Don't think I would have the b*lls to use one so pristine though, good on ya!

I worked my CE SARsquatch out yesterday:

The SARsquatch is a good blade - not the full weight of a true chopper but it works. I carried it for about 5 hours and didn't hardly notice it.

Good pics mikeymoto.

YEAH BABY USE THAT BASIC!!!!!! Lol I want one in the worst way, I love seeing em being used. Great Knife pics. How'd you like how she handled? I mean I know there werent very man marks but how'd she feel when you chopped with it?

I need more time working with it to see how I like the asymmetric edge of the B9; I don't think I noticed it today with what I was doing.

I don't know if it's form the Res-C handles or the short (height) blade but it felt like I noticed more "reverberations" in the blade when chopping. Will have to test that further as well.

Dennis, I would have liked to keep it minty but I just couldn't. Maybe sometime I'll find another one so I can have at least one user and one pretty one to look at. :D

Nice photo's. I would like to try those basic's out. I almost traded for a basic 5 a while ago. I kinda of regret not doing it. They aren't getting any less rare.
