I was mainly trying to see if I could spot some rattlers, so I was carefully poking around rocks and holes. Never found any though

My new woods chair. Pretty comfy actually!

There's always teenager party spots around the local hills. Graffiti and broken beer bottles :grumpy:

Depending on the angle either phallic or robotic! (Maybe a robot phallus?)

Found several of these scat piles

Don't know what it's from

Broken, dead oak tree

I pried up the bark and it was riddled with termite holes (suppose they could also be from wood boring beetles) Was also a nice chance for a "knife stuck in a log" pic

And the best flavor of Clif Bars IMO! (If I was Chuck Norris I would have eaten the knife too)

That ain't graffiti, it's modern petroglyphic cave painting or some such bs that people make up to justify defacing something that isn't theirs.

Looks like a great outing:thumbup: What's the fixed blade? Looks very functional...

Cool pics, still looks like a nice area, even though I hate most modern cave spray-paintings. That scat is interesting, some very large seeds in it. Your new chair is cool, and if that Oak is still pretty solid it's a good place for a quick shelter later as it gets colder.

The placement of Graffiti amazes me. I have been on trails fifteen or twenty miles from the nearest road and find rocks sprayed with spray paint. Do these idiots actually carry a spray can in their pack and plan to go out and deface something?

In this area, the graffiti doesn't surprise me too much. One of the trailheads starts at a park that butts up against the hills. But I have seen it pretty far back on trails and do wonder about the person who packs spray cans into the woods. The same types who pack cases of Natty Ice in and proceed to break the empty bottles all over the place to I guess.

Yeah, sometimes I wish there was no such thing as "cheap" beer, if it cost-ed more then maybe they wouldn't be able to pack so much in...

The authorities here say they don't have the resources to stop it, but somehow I bet they'd have the resources to lock me up should I hold some jerks at gun point and make them clean up their mess.

Nice pics.

That wouldn't happen to be the Northridge/Simi Valley are would it?

Pretty much. This is the range where the SF valley meets Simi. I love the terrain here, at least when it's less than 100 degrees.

well look on the bright side the paint will wear away before the rock will, why people feel the need to do these things is beyond me
