Ok, here are my boys (well, 4 of them. The 5th is being rebladed at Buck).

One of my 2 '87's, just look what someone did to the blade! How in the world do I fix this?

My 2 dot, poor finish on the brass at both ends, tempted to take some 2000 grit to it and smooth it out...

My other '87, and frequently found on my belt.

Some rash that this one came with, the pattern looks familiar but I can't place it. Tempted to sand this one down too, but it's just fine for a user.

I was going to save this for a Sunday pic thread, but I'll come up with something more artistic for that.
Best,
Russ

Nice collection Russ. Sorry to see the '87 fell victim to someone with a bench grinder.

The pattern on the last one looks like someone had it in a table vise.

That's it! I knew that pattern looked familiar.

Russ,
the blade can be reground and it will just look like the blade has alot of belly. The other two can be fixed with a little elbow greese. I use 400 grit wet sand papper and WD40, then hit them with 600 wet the same way. After I'll hit 'em with something real fime like 1200. Then I use my dremmel and a buffing wheel and Brown Buffing compound. Then a little Mothers to get all the oils off and they shine like mirrors. You can hit the wood lightly with the dremmel and the compound as well. Like New but still Vintage....

Like MB said, a little fine grit sand paper on the wood won't hurt it all. The two knives with brass problems are an easy fix. Just follow MB's instructions and they will liik great.

rus, I'd send the 1st 87 with notched blade to the warranty dept at Buck, a reblade will cost $10 and they will also buff up the rest of the knife. You could send the others in for spa as well, $6.95 to buff out the knife and put factory edge on the blade.

I've got one there right now for a reblade, but it was mine for a long time. Is it considered 'ok' to send one in that I bought in this condition? I read that it was possible in the past to get the blade upgraded but some folks abused it and we no longer have this available, shame, I'd love to get the notched blade one upgraded to s30v or even better bg42.

That > kinda looks like someone cut a hot ac voltage wire. Dad did that once, thinking it was unplugged. Looks similar. He survived. :D

Yeah..send it to Buck

That dot dot is really strange. Looks like it was laid down in sand or fine gravel and stepped on or run over.

If they could only talk...
