Well I finally got my milling jigs set up to make a few BK11 scales and the first test set was made from some Spruce Green/ Black canvas Micarta.

I used the factory style 6x32 socket cap screw/hex nut hardware on these and they overall, they came out nice I think.

About the only thing I am going to do different on subsequent sets is re-position the front screw upward a bit to center it better on the handle. Other than that , they feel and look nice.

I really dig the color combination for a woods knife. It would look way cool on a new BK-16.

Wow those turned out fantastic! When I opened the thread and saw your picture, I was expecting to read you received the new scales you bought.

First rate work by the looks of it.

C,

Thank you for the compliment. It is much appreciated.
I followed the same basic factory pattern for design. I feel it gets the most from the BK-11.
This exact color of micarta is not made anymore to my knowledge and I only have enough to about a half dozen sets so I am darn careful with it.

They are finished to a 320 grit polish and simply washed with a bit of liguid wrench to deepened the colors. They are not very glossy and still have a grippy texture, about matte oil finish wood.

Beautiful handles ther Jim. They look marvelous.

Not here he isn't.

Gold members and craftsmen can sell on the Exchange. Not in general. Take it to email.

Dang moose! You should put up a new thread as a reminder. Might be a more direct way to get the message out. Oh wait......

But yes, the look awesome on the 11

They look great. Love those two tone micartas. You can never go wrong with green.

FWIW.

I merely posted pics of that set of scales because I was really tickled with how they turned out. I know the rules here and would not even think of taking an orders( even through email )unless I was first a paid Knifemaker/ service provider member and an Official "Beckerhead".

Also, I simply don't have the time right now to do them in the size of runs required to make them cost effective.I would only want to offer for sale what I had in hand, anyway.

All in good time...

I DO appreciative the complements from one and all.;)

You should be tickled, they turned out well. That wasn't directed at you Jim, either.

Buying a scrollsaw from a buddy. Wonder if I could make bk11 scales with a scroll saw?

Is a milling jig like a lathe? I'm not familiar with that tool.
