I just got an M6. Also have a black battle rat.

I have been hearing about Scrapyard for a while now. I knew they would be priced below Swamp Rat. My question - what's the difference between SR 101 and SR 77? If this question has been asked too many times, just point me to a link. Thanks.

The SR77 is more impact resistant but doesnt hold an edge as well as SR101. There's more too it than that but I think thats the jist of it.

SR77 should really excel in the big choppers! The res-c mojo just felt awesome. It was so... fluid.

SR 101 - SR 77 = SR 24

Highlands Oatmeal Stout and White Russians just make me a real smartass.

Is there a difference with stain resistance too? I thought SR101 was more stain resistant, though less than INFI.

52100 (SR 101) is typically harder than S-7 (SR 77) because it contains almost twice as much carbon in it's elemental makeup. S-7 mostly compensates for this by having over twice as much Chromium as 52100 (to help corrosion resistance) and also a couple of elements that 52100 doesn't contain that aid in wear resistance (edge retention). Generally, S-7 comes close to the ability of 52100 in a "survival / combat" knife, but will still rust a little easier and probably loses it's edge a little quicker (but will probably be a little easier to sharpen). Neither steel, however, should rust as easily as many of the high carbon alloys that are used in many other knives out there. SR 77 should be a solid performer for it's intended use.

INFI is in a class all by itself...
:D
