Dean left a couple of hours or so ago with the goodies he brought over to show me.
What's to drool over? Why the Hanshee he won in one of John's Raffles of course.:D
If you haven't ever got to hold one of these you don't know what you're missing. This one fit my hand like it was made for it and I didn't want to give it back.;)
Dean had several other goodies that he brought that we went through with one of them being a TaiChi Sword his wife got him for a special occasion.
Dean has etched the blade beautifully bringing out the hardening line to perfection.
I graoned when he told me the outfit doesn't make them anymore, but that the crew who did was hired by another fellow and that there would probably a similar one made in the future.
Don't know what I would do with it, but I would dearly love to own one at least similar to it and hardened as well as his is.
Dean also showed me a khukri from India that he thought was chromed junk, but I'm not so sure.
There's a couple of good reasons that I think otherwise. One is that the blade shows slight surface etching unlike chrome does and the other is the way it was stamped.
The stamp appears to be made solid and in one piece instead of independent letters, generally a sure sign of quality.
Dean said he had posted a pic of it, but that it wasn't very good I urged Dean to post it again as the kukri also passed the file test and I figure it at about 58-59 Rc.
All in all a good visit with a fellow knife knut and to top it off Dean gave me a Beautiful Chinese Flute when he left.
That touched my heart and all I could do was say, "thank you" and it was one of those times that, "thank you" didn't seem to be enough.:footinmou
Dean is definitely one of the good guys!!!!:D

I haven't met too many of the members of the Cantina but, the ones I have sure are the good guys. I know what you mean when thank you ins't enough.:)

A very nice visit, but way too short.

Found out his wife is a weaver of baskets
& learned several things about that craft.

It's true.
I thought he was going to work it out on one of the nearby chairs.

Way to short is right Dean. We need a full day to get together and shoot the bull about knives, guns, kukris and swords it seems.
Maybe when it cools down a little we can at least get the guys in Tulsa and the surrounding area over for a kookout, er cookout.
Hopefully in a while I will get back to my old self again. This dry socket and infection I've had has set me back more than I like.

And thanks for the link!!!! That's the first sword I've seen that I really liked, but maybe that's because of what you had done to it to bring out the hardening line.
Guys, Dean knows his stuff about this. Pay attention when he's talking about doing such things!!!!:D

Yup, Barbie does Cherokee Double Wall Baskets in Commercial reed. And takes them to a level not seen or done by anyone else!!!!
Barbie made me a basket pencil holder that's dayumed near tip proof for my desk. She's the only one to make this particular style of basket.:D

Never met Dean, but that will change shortly I hope. Yvsa was kind enough to show me his khuks and a little thing or two about sharpening while he had family down and was waiting to go to the pow wow. Thanks for taking the time Yvsa. Got your cane ready, but I used a glue called "Gorilla Glue" to glue on the tip, well I wasn't aware that glue was supposed to foam up. Apparently this brand does when it hardens. So I gotta figure out how to clean up the mess it made.

Hi Yvsa and CaveDweller,
I make it to Oklahoma several times a year and would love to hook up sometime in the future, heh with winter coming on I better make it soon eh? I get kind of spoiled down here during the winter:D
I end up in southern OK when I am there, Fredrick to be exact, somewhere near the Wichita(sp?) Mountains. Theres a restaurant there that serves wonderful burgers! Huge buggers! The reservation around there is supposed to be home to some of my family, a couple times removed;) My beard says that its been a couple of generations. My father is supposed (key word supposed:grumpy: )to be researching that subject.

send me a note when y'all get the time at armoralleather@yahoo.com
:D :D :D

I'm certainly up for Khukout (You ought to copyright that Yvsa), I have to admit though I'm the only male in the world who can't barbecue. My dad lives and breathes it, he has the huge smoker and everything, but for some reason my BBQ DNA got jacked up and all I do is make more charcoal. I can make a mean pc of toast though.

I got surprised too.

Seems all the urethane glues do this.

I guess you have to plan ahead.

Should be in the instructions.
