My first Khukuri...an 18" Ang Khola, wood handle. Pure Nepali happiness, soon to be delivered to my door.
I want to thank all of you for welcoming me to this forum, and for helping me make this decision. We can play a new game now, called "Let's Help Michael Spend Next Month's Paycheck". Where do I go from here?

18" AK as your first HI :eek: You are in for a treat. Read the safety thread before that monster takes a bite out of you. :thumbup:
 
Shann: Thank you for your concern. I"ve read the safety thread throroughly, and I will do so every day for the next month. No, I'm not exaggerating.

Satori: You sure do know how to scare the crap out of a guy. I'm already planning my next Khukuri purchase...Is that really where it's going to end up?

I'm considering strapping my AK to my hip when it gets here and just going about my day to see what people do. We've got a pretty good South and Central Asian community where I live; I might just be very well recieved.

And yes, that's legal in NC. :)

I looked at the safety thread from the time I decided to find one to order through the first week I had the first one. I reread it before I open the box for new ones when they come in (I have a tendency toward careless exuberance). With the AK, focus on the safety stuff about the arc... My 15" seems to have a great desire to dive into my leg. :)

I asked a similar question a month ago. My 10th khukuri came in today. As did my 11th, 12th and 13th... :eek: And of course 13 khukuris is unlucky, so...

That's how it ended up for me. As I said in that post, though, I'm not complaining. :)
 
When I opened my first (an 18.5" WWII) I think the first words out of my mouth were "Oh, my God". Not quite a sword, not quite an axe, WAY more than a knife. Enjoy but be careful.

I want to thank all of you again for the advice and support. I can't wait till my khuk gets here! The suspense is killing me.

I also want to thank you all for the warm welcome. The only problem you have now is that I like it here, and I"m afraid you may be stuck with me.
