So i just traded my eskabar (with the purple cord wrapped handle) for a large cold steel voyager, i never knew the finish on the blade was so visually appealing.

idk if this picture does it justice but its so good looking imo.

They are very good looking, much better in person than usually shows in a photo. Out of the folders I've owned and handled it is right up there as a favorite, even though I got two of them for around the same price as my 90's Voyager.

I was torn between that blade shape and the clip point, i figured the clip point would be more sharpener friendly and more practical for edc tasks. That blade is almost like a work of art with that shape though.

You picked right, the clip point is better for most people and most tasks. Vaquero for me is 90% big city emergency weapon but it is also very good at certain utility tasks and I use the hell out of it regardless. Doing tip work and finer tasks with the edge near your grip a clip, spearpoint, spey, wharncliffe, etc. shape are better and they are more suited overall towards out in the boonies trips in my opinion.

My wife was making traps with me in the yard yesterday and I let her swap around with me a Vic Camper, Mini Recon, and the Voyager, she liked the straighter spearpoint blades of the Camper and Mini Recon.

I dont intend to use my knives in a self defence role, i mean if it came down to it i would do what i had to do, I dont use my knives a whole lot, i like the versatility of a bigger blade so i like to be in the 3.5-4 inch area for my EDC. I have tried tantos for edc and they dont work so well, i will prob ending up getting a vaquero voyager too just cause i think that blade is so just artistically shaped.

They are fun, check out some old stuff about the older vaqueros and desperado and Keating's Spyderco Chinook design comments. I like to train with knives for exercise, control, connect with the past, etc. Wouldn't use one though unless it's 3 or more dudes attacking family or I, or an attacker with firearm.

Funny thing is i know how to fight with them along as with my bare hands (if you gave me a gun id be better off throwing it at you though lol my firearm skill is that bad, i dont got a gun permit or own a gun though) but i never think about putting my knife into that role. I wouldnt use it unless i knew there was no way around the dude harming me or my family, if they just wanted my wallet out of desperateness chances are they woulda already killed me before they took it if they were going to kill me, they can have it my life is worth more then that.
