I finally bit the bullet and paid for the Gen3 cam-lock vice upgrade for my older WE. The upgrade included the new cam based vice 10" ball-joint rods, and 11.5" degree bar. It was not inexpensive but given how many FFG knives I sharpen it was worth the investment. Went together quickly and as a quick 30second check I was able to secure my FFG Delica with no problems and no movement. Tomorrow my custom AEL-B 10" gyuto kitchen workhorse is going to see some much needed sharpening.

I'm really diggin' the new upgrade! I was able to drop my AEB-L gyuto down to 17dps and put a scary sharp edge up to 1000 grit in less than 20mins. I didn't break out the strops since this knife is my kitchen work horse and needs a weekly touch-up anyway. I'm very impressed at how easy it is to clamp in a FFG blade along with the precision of the new arms. Expensive but well worth it if you have an older WE and don't want to pop for the Gen3.
