Just paid for a Knife Makers Membership. I hope you guys don't think that was presumptuous. I know I'm at the infancy, and only want to learn from you, not try to insert myself as a peer.
Anyway, as you may know I like rustic knives. Nessmuks, trade knives, and Scandi's. I spent a year making and selling sheaths. Most of my posts have been in the HI section, where Sarge (Sylvrfalcn), Dan Koster, and that crew inspired me to try my hand at knifemaking. I've been doing some basic forging thanks to Kricket, but mostly stock removal up to now.
I chose the Fiddleback Spider (Brown Recluse) as my logo because my grandad's place (n. Mississippi) is infested with them, and they fascinate me. Plus, IMO, they are underrecognized by the general public, and that is dangerous. Also, they are southern, a real threat from the south, and that's something about that rings with me.
I'm currently an engineer. I have two beautiful daughters (4, and 5 mos), and an awesome wife. She must be commended for allowing my foray into expensive tools, woodworking, and knifemaking. My shop has two holes in it. No band saw, and no mill machine. I plan to work around that for now as much as possible.
You've been a great resource for me while learning the skills I have, and I thank you. I hope to go on learning, and try not to piss y'all off too bad on the way.
Cheers! (Tip a good beer if you're gonna tip one.)
