I may not agree with some (many?) of you on certain issues but I enjoy the activity, breadth of member ages, experience, and locations, and format of this place more than any of the other wilderness/survival forums I've come across.

Now, if you could just use PayPal to support bladeforums.com... If I've missed a link, someone please direct me. Seems like there's only CC support.

I don't know about paypal, but there is a link in the user cp area that leads you to choosing either basic, gold, platinum, knifemaker, etc...I chose the gold member cause it's just $25 for the year and you get to do just about everything on this site. It's safe to me, I used my card and I got an email receipt about a day later. Hope this helps, J.

Edit: Found it, go to your user cp area, on the left hand side scroll down until you get to miscelaneous, then choose "paid subscriptions" and that takes you to where I was talking about, I still don't know about paypal, I'll look into that.

You don't have to go to User CP for subscriptions. Just look up at the head of any page and click on Upgrade your forums experience.

Unfortunately, we cannot use PayPal because they don't like "weapons" related sites. The credit cards are processed through One Stop Knife Shop, which sponsors Bladeforums -- Spark owns both of them.

I'm going to move this to Service & Support.

Thanks for replying Esav, I was wondering when you'd wake up. Now I'm going to bed .

They (PayPal) is being arrogant and stupid, Ebay which owns PayPal, sells a lot more knives than this site and they have no problem letting sellers on Ebay accept PayPal payment for knives. Just a method to keep competition down. IMHO

I can't remember how long ago it was that I closed my Paypal account. I have a 03FFL which is a firearms collector's license. When they stopped letting me buy my rifles and parts, I stopped using them.

Paypal hates ANYTHING weapon related, keep that in mind. There's a reason why people say "discrete Paypal" when selling on weapons boards.

So can't you set up a private PayPal account for this? I run a forum that does similar traffic as here and without PayPal, we couldn't survive.

 I don't get it. As far as I can see PayPal is just a way for people who don't sell enough to be real merchants and deal directly with the credit card companies to accept payment with a credit/debit card. None of the real stores on the net accept PayPal; they accept credit/debit cards directly, or you can send them a money order directly. You don't need to use PayPal as an intermediary; you can pay direct.

Why would you want to use PayPal as an intermediary? It certainly isn't any safer. Every time you use your credit card the merchant you're buying from and everyone who works for him gets your info. Occasionally someone abuses that, but that's the credit card company's problem, and they take in enough to write off a lot of theft....

I can see you might have some money in your PayPal account already and you'd rather not wait a couple of days to turn that into cash so you can buy a money order, but that's the way it is; money in a PayPal account is not as available as cash in hand....
