This is my EDC. Manix XL.
It has been amazing. I fell in love with the lock immediately. Before this my favorite was a ZT 0561, but once I went back to sypderco, I realized how much I missed these darn blades. Plus I can wait for my 0562 ;). This is my favorite Spyderco to date.
What do you think about these Green Terotuf handles? I added some wax to stabilize the handle material. I love it. But sometimes I love ugly.
Any thoughts. Or what else I can do to the knife to make it more custom for myself. I think the satin and polished finishes go nice with this handle choice.
Also, I have heard many complain about the spring being very tough. Am I the only one that stretched the spring an extra 1/2MM for vault like action. It is still as smooth as before.

And yes, I do have a low rider coming from the Original Spaceman

I share your admiration for the Manix2 XL. I do wish it were a little easier to manipulate the ball bearing lock though. Please explain about stretching the spring. What does that do to the lock action?
This is the first I've heard of Terotuf. Looks grippy and bet the F&F is on point. I'm not a fan of the color but each to their own.

It makes it a bit harder to unlock. The action is not as glassy smooth, but it is hard to tell. The main difference it it takes more force to unlock it and the detent action the holds the blade in the handle is stronger. No matter what I do as far as grip. I know it will not budge. I also did not mill these handles down as I did yours. I just made a bigger bevel in the lock cutout. So more or less. The blade is not going any where.
I agree, this stuff is kinda ugly. I think that is why I like it.

I'm an XL fan too. Mine is very smooth and locks up tight as, and just feels rugged in hand.
It is the only Spydie I really felt the need to put a low rider clip though. It really needed it to me.

Your scales make it distinctive and distinctive is good

I love my XL. It's the only knife that I like as much as my BM Contego's. I do need a low rider clip, and I may want some custom scales sometime soon, too.

To all three of you, I agree and thanks for some input. The XL is a great sized knife.
I have the low rider on order, and that will make it perfect with the current clip location. Not to low, as well as a custom leather sheath from Europe. Which I will post a picture of. These handles, they simply feel like they have been on the knife for a decade.
