I'm kinda new to the forum but not to knife making, been doing it for over 20yr. I just thought I'd let you guys know how I've enjoyed all the good questions and answers and the enthusiastic desire that you all have to help others. It just goes to reaffirm to me what I've always known, "knife makers are good people". Hope the hollidays were good for all..........John

Welcome to BFC, John! Glad you're here. Enjoy!:D

Great looking Bowie BTW. Looks a bit like an old Wostenholm pattern.

John, whereabouts in the in panhandle??
I'm a little north and east of PGH. bruce

I made this bowie about 6 months ago. the blade is about 10"long X1 1/2"wide and its 440C.The total length of the knife is about 15" or so.The guard and bolsters are both n/s. The guard has two grooves that are inlaid with gold all the way around, the bolsters are dovetailed and the tang is tapered. The handl material is un-dyed giraffe bone.I was in the steel making business for over 32yr till my retirment about 3yr ago and I've been making knives for over 20yr.Bowies are my favorite style of knife and 90 percent of what I make are bowies although I do enjoy making smaller knives too.I guess I've just got too much iron in my blood,my wife says it's a guy thing and who knows maybe shes right............John
