Just wanted to say, "WOW"

I'm a definite FNG around here, and I just wanted to say thanks for providing such an amazing resource. I'm a firearms enthusiast and instructor who has only recently started to appreciate the value of a "really" good knife.

Ironically, what started all of this was a gun show where I was able to handle a number of higher-end blades, including many by CRK. I almost pulled the trigger on an inlayed Sebenza 21, but decided to do a bit more research...which led to finding this site.

Fast forward to the ending: I received my brand new Umnumzaan last week, and I could not be happer! :) I've carried what I would consider to be decent knives (Benchmade, Spyderco), but this knife is simply a work of functional art. I LOVE it.

This will be the first of many purchases, I hope!

Thanks from someone you didn't even know was lurking, ;)

The only bad part is the look you get if someone figures out how much it costs...one of my colleagues loved the look and feel, and decided to do a Google search on it. The  was priceless.

Of course, after hanging around here, my  threshold has gone up by a large amount. :o

I'm sure you can really explain the quality and build behind such a product. Assuming that the colleagues are also firearms instructors, make a comparison between a cheap firearm and say something more high end. That should put things into perspective.

BTW congrats on an awesome purchase!

Welcome. Glad youre happy with your Zaan. At least you admit this isnt

going to be only CRK. Your at the beginning of the end of your CRK

journey.

I am new to owning an Umnumzaan and I must say I just really am taken with it.
Congrats on your discovery.

I'm another FNG on this forum and still quite amazed with the plethora of info here (plethora... man I haven't used that word in years...).
I absolutely love this forum. Most of the people here seem quite nice and helpful.
This FNG most definitely appreciates their patience and general 'coolness'.
I got a Zaan, too. It's a beaut, eh?
It just feels right... gotta love it.

Thank you, and funny you should mention that...that's the exact comparison I gave.

"Handle this Taurus...now handle this Kimber."

Not that the Taurus was bad....a decent, functional tool.

But there are certainly levels above for those who don't mind taking the step...

Perhaps a small Sebenza next...something for when the Umnumzaan is just a bit large...

Actually, I was also looking at the Sikayos. I happen to do most of the cooking in the family, and while I have decent kitchen steel (Global), I'm sure there are steps up to be taken there as well.
