So I own one Great Eastern Cutlery knife, an 85 Northfield to be exact, and I absolutely love it.

I personally was floored by the quality of the 85, and still am, I am looking into obtaining another GEC at some point but the 85 effectively put all my others knives on the shelf, anybody else have a similar reaction?

So my question is this, what was your first experience with Great Eastern and what was your reaction? Do any of your Great Eastern Knives monopolize your pocket?

My #85 that was gifted by a kind member here and I love it.

The quality is really amazing!

Beautiful knife. I own an 85 SFO, that I love (pictured below). It's one of my favorites and I carry it frequently. I like to rotate a variety of knives for EDC, but my 85 gets carried more than its fair share.

Very knice knife, OP... Congrats!

I've got an 85 in stag. I carry it from time to time but probably not as much as I should. :)

I've only had one, a liner-lock 73. I sold it.

It was a fine knife, but honestly, it snapped shut with such ferocity  that I was literally afraid to let my wife or kids (the two who of are knife-using age, that is), use it.

Plus, I was raising funds to buy a custom-made harmonica microphone, so I needed the dough.

As I said, I was very impressed with the knife, but that particular model just wasn't for me. I'll get another GEC in time. I remain torn between a single-blade Boys Knife with cocobolo handles, a Radio knife with ebony handles, or a clip-blade White Owl pen knife, that's a beaut! Or a black Bullnose Sodbuster, which is quite a cool knife. Or a 48 trapper with cocobolo handles -- man oh man, I'd like one of those! Or ... :D

This at Old & in the Way

When I was at the big knife shop in the mountains (not sure if a BF dealer) there was a very similar 85. had to think long and hard before I picked mine. That's a good looking knife you got there!

Also got to like the 85 love going on here!

Amen Brother! I'm in the same boat. I'm torn between the 16 in Emerald Green Acrylic or the 48 (trap and wharn) in African Black Wood or an 06 in rosewood..... yeah I understand the feeling.

I have the same model in stag, and yes, it sees a lot of pocket time.

A similar sized pattern with even more utility because of the secondary coping blade is the 92 Eureka Jack.
I modified mine from a spear main to a clip (my preference), and it gets a lot of pocket time, too.

Oh yes, I've been VERY impressed with my GEC folders. Since June of this year I've ended up with 8 of them. I carry half of them a lot and the others on occasion. My #55 has been my most-carried and favorite, rarely if ever out of my arm's reach. It's quality and beauty is captivating to me. It's re-kindled my interest in traditional knives - brought it to a passion level in fact.

My favs? The 55, 92, 06, 85 EO and now my newest - a 15 Barlow are my top favorites.

My first GEC was the #68 Pony Jack. I bought it, looked at it for a while, admired the fit and finish, and then put it back in the tube and it sits there still, unused. At some point I may get around to carrying it but for the moment I have other knives that get the pocket time. If at some point in the future I decide to unwind some of my purchases, the GECs will be first out the door since all of mine are new or like-new in tube, and will retain their resale value better than the more inexpensive knives that I actually use and carry.

It is in fact the very beauty and quality of the GEC knives that prevents me from using them. I have perfectly adequate (for my needs) knives that are less beautiful, less expensive, but do everything I need to do, so I end up using them rather than messing up the pretty ones. Yes, I realize its foolish and I shouldn't have bought the GECs if I weren't going to use them. I may in fact get around to using them some day. But for now they are waiting around for that day.

By the way, there is already an entire thread just dedicated to "what we have to say" about GEC knives. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1081593-Lets-talk-GEC! You may find some useful information there too.

My first GEC was a Big Jack. It was based on the #54 pattern IIRC. It was a nice enough knife with beautiful stag covers, but it didn't really do anything for me. The quality was there, no denying that, but the frame was just too symmetrical for my tastes.

It's like anything else really. GEC makes some good stuff, but they're not the only ones who know how to make a good knife. I like some of their patterns, though most leave me feeling cold. The same holds true for other makers.

My most carried knife is a GEC #73 Scout. It's not my best, or even my favorite, but because of sentimental value it is the one I treasure most.

My first foray into GEC was with a #65 Ben Hogan in gold pearlite acrylic, that I liked but didn't love, one of my favorite knives I own is the 2011 forum knife that resides in my pocket way more than it should, I own several more GEC's but I tend to trade out between the forum knife and a boys knife in ebony

My first was a #68 white owl. I mistakenly chose a Northfield and could never really take to it because of the bail. It took me almost two years to pluck up the courage to remove it, and now it's more to my liking. My second was a #61 half congress. That's the one that bought me over. It is well used and loved.

My first was a #68 White Owl with kryptonite acrilic handles and I got it for my 21st birthday I love the knife and everything is perfect except for the edge it came quite dull which is a pain because 1095 sucks to sharpen.

Sorry no pictures I'm away from home.
