I forgot where I read about this, but I just put a cable "zip" tie through the hole of my Lum Chinese folder, pulled it all the way down & snipped it. Works like a charm. I hope I'm not violating any copyrights- I don't want Ernie pissed at me...

Wouldn't that suck to have your buttocks handed to you in court for putting a zip tie on your knife?? *l* (admittedly a lower percentage chance here than alien abduction)

I would go try that myself on my Wegner, but I'm afraid of being drawn and quartered by the more radical element of Usual Suspects.

I primarily just wanted to say that sounds pretty darn neat. The more I read about the Lum Chinese, the worse I want one of the darn things...

So many Spydies, so little cash...

I had the EXACT SAME idea, only i was going to do it on an AXIS AFCK!

things to think about:

I have heard that there was a guy that used to cut into his spydie hole to make a wave like hook (years before the WAVE).

Have a folder with thumb disk and no wave? but a longer screw in there, bonus points if you get one with a big head.

Ever look at the microtech amphibian? what do you think would happen if you rotated those studs?

Word is that kershaw used to produce a knife with wave before the wave.

The way I understand it you do not violate any copyright laws by modifying your own knife. It's only when you start to copy someone elses designs and sell them that your in trouble.

Can we see a pic?

I've considered getting a cheap spydie and cutting the hole into a wave as LizardKing mentions but the ziptie method isn't permanent. Sounds cool.

I doubt I'll be in dutch w/ Ernie & the rest of the USN crew- It's an aftermarket mod & actually looks a little silly. It's also removeable. It looks like I got the knife on one of those cardboard blister packs & I was too half-assed to take the retaining zip ties off...
