Just won a limited edition Benchmade Skirmish 630

Take some scotch pads to the blade and polish it up, then sharpen it up and use it.

will that really work?

Also benchmade sad they could replace the blade but the replacement blade wont have the number 220-250 on it or the neil black wood logo just the s30v

If that's the case, polish out the scratches yourself. That blade is S30V too and you'll save about $60-$80.

You don't need a replacement blade for that knife IMO. It's all superficial stuff and won't weaken or detract from it's usage. If you are looking for a rare collectors knife for a safe keeper it's the wrong knife, in the wrong condition, and replacing the blade will ruin whatever collectors value it had. 630 Skirmishes are good large working blades but not really rare collectors knives. They retain value not for their rarity but for their usefulness and popularity with Benchmade users.

It's a great knife with lots of life in it. Enjoy it and use it as it was designed.

Yeah they said it would cost $25 for the new satin blade plus the shipping and return shipping so 35 in all for just the blade and the handle looks pretty damaged the price for new ones are $90 so in all it would be about $125 for new blade new handles so $325 for a new skirmish with no limited edition logo and no Neilblack wood design print. Or should I just keep it the way it comes and not spend anything and polish the blade and just do the life sharp

I would just sharpen it and use it. Who cares if it's a bit scratched up? It just adds character to it. Nice find!

I sent mine to Tom Krein for a re-grind and it came out excellently.

I'm in agreement with the others, sharpen it and use it. A scotch bright green pad will help with the scratches if they really bother you. I think they add character and would leave them as is and just use it.
