Just won this, what can you guys tell me?

That was a good buy on a user....06247Pen from 1976 as Lobo said, handles look like delrin not bone, at least from the pics.

I think the tang stamp is this one, only with 4 dots.

How do the dots correspond to years, similarly to the current x's and dots? I.e., start with 10 in 1970, and remove one each year?
Thanks again,
Alex

Identify Case Knives
~ Age ~

In 1970, Case added ten dots beneath the "USA" on the tangs of all knives. As each new year passed, one dot was removed. So, nine dots appeared in 1971, eight in 1972, and so on.

In the 1980s, the same dating system was used-with two subtle differences. First, a "lightning S" appeared in both " CASE " and "USA." ( not shown above) Secondly, the dots were placed above the "USA." Just like in the 70s, one dot was removed each year.

From 1990 to mid 1993, the dot system was replaced with a stamping of the actual date. By popular demand, however, the dot dating system is again being used on all current Case knives.

In 2000, Case introduced a new tang date stamp: five X's and five dots. From 2001 through 2005, one dot is removed each year. From 2006 through 2009, and X is removed each year.
