Where exactly is the powerlock 2.0? I have been hearing about this powerlock model with piano locks and gear cover and new plier head but I have not seen it any store. It does not come up on google (except for the EOD 2.0 model) and it is no longer listed on the SOG website. Have they decided not to make this model?

It's a little weird because I have been waiting to buy this product for many months now and can't seem to be able to spend my money on it. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link JTC :) ...as I stated in my post, this is the EOD (explosive ordinance disposal) model that is readily available...unfortunately or fortunately I am not around too many explosives. I am speaking about the regular powerlock 2.0 model that would be available in stores such as lowes.

Anyone have any idea?

My guess would be the only difference would be the spike in the tools. The EOD has the gear covers and the piano locks. One could always buy a different blade from SOG and switch out the spike if he wanted. Normally on EOD models like Gerber. They have the crimper gound into the pliers. While on the SOG it looks like the crimper is on the handle side of the pliers. My Powerlock has the same crimper on the pliers and it is not an EOD model. It is the older style.

The revised version of the PowerLock or version 2 (with PianoLocks, gear covers and new plierhead) is still on track to be released this year. It just got delayed for a bit. We have begun shipping some pieces with the new plierhead but it should be in full production and in all stores by the end of the year.

Chris...thanks so much for your answer. I've been needing a new multi tool and have been waiting a long time for the 2.0 to come out. If I buy a regular powerlock right now, would there be a way to upgrade it with the new additions when you guys release them?

I do not think there would be a way to upgrade. The new PianoLocks use differnet handles and the gear covers are riveted in. it would be a complicated procedure and most likely some what costly.

Got it...is there any chance the 2.0's might start trickling out sooner or has production not begun on them yet?

Thanks for all the info Chris...
