I was first introduced to benchmade back in 1995 at a knife shop in Trinidad CO. I was looking for an auto knife and was shown a benchmade. I very lightly touched the blade and the thing straight up flat out laid me open. I mean I seriously bled and bled and I kept bleeding so I absolutely bought it. It was like owning a pocket scalpel. Over the years I bought many more and it seemed that they continually were less and less the scalpel sharpness I had fallen in love with. My preferred EDC is the Mel Pardue with partial serration. The size and shape of this auto just appeals to me. So cards on the table what is up with the complete lack of an edge? I long for the wicked nasty benchmade scalpels of the past. So is there anyway to get that back?

I haven't purchased a new Benchmade for awhile, so I can't comment on their diminishing sharpness, but I use to carry a ton of their autos in the 90's. Just wanted to affirm your comment about the Mel Pardue auto; I use to have the same one and loved it due to the slender profile and thin blade! Wish I wouldn't have sold that one. I do still carry one of the original AFOs and it's been the most reliable auto I've ever had.
