We know what you all carry, now why did you choose to carry your current EDC?

What function do your EDCS perform?

I always carry a sheepsfoot blade for scrapin' gaskets and cutting intricate patterns in gasket material.

I always carry a folder with clip blade for general cutting tasks and eating.

A Spear blade medium folder for piercing cans and cutting plastic bottles, also as a general purpose back up, kinda fits the bill of the other 2 knives I carry(see above).

A sheeple friendly slipjoint for a using knife in hostile territory, stores, in public places, etc...

A last ditch SD, for a no other choice form of SD.

A Spydercard in the wallet in case I ever forget all my knives.

Last but not least, a miniature Spyderco Titanium Police necklace, that even when I'm in the shower I with no clothes  I stoll have a knife for an emergency, like when I get tangled up in the soap on a rope.:D

i always carry a BM ascent II for general use, and just ordered a crkt companion for strong side, behind the hip carry defense, and i may get a crkt bear claw for backup and carry it cross draw in front of the hip.

There was a time when mankind wasn't caged, when he didn't live in prisons cteated by his own mind and it's addiction to material comfort. A time when all we needed to survive was something sharp.

Despite my enjoyment of a modern life, there is still a deep part of my consciousness that yearns for freedom and simplicity. My knife is a talisman. A connection to that deep past. Because I fear that if I let go of that past competely then I am lost.

Also I sometimes need to cut stuff.

I always carry something with a blade around 3" for general cutting tasks. Opening boxes, cutting an apple, things like that. It's usually either a BM31 balisong, Spyderco Delica or Dozier Straight Personal.

I'll also often carry a full size balisong just because I like to have one with me. Either a BM42A or a 29 Knives 4" Deep Belly Cutlass.

I wish I could say that I use my knives hard. I (maybe all of us)could probably "get by" with a Gerber LST. However, since I like knives I think of situations where I "might" need such and such knife. So I usually carry either a BM Griptilian or MiniGriptilian(office) for general cutting and have a SAK in my pocket for the tools and sheeple use. Which SAK depends upon whether I am at work (Spartan) or out (Explorer) or outdoors(Champion). I chose corkscrew models so I could insert the mini-screwdriver since I wear glasses. A few times a month or so I might actually use one of the tools.

710HS or 910 for general purpose. 94X general purpose/food. 310 for the OH NO public situation, Raibow Leek for those night to show to the ladies, 770BC1CF or Kelly Carlson IronWood Falcon for those dressier nights.

From the title I thought this thread would be about justifying why I carry any knife, to which I would answer cause I feel like it.

Unfortunately I don't really get to have an EDC, as I am in college and my school has a policy against carrying knives. I know that as long as I am discrete and all I shouldn't have any problems, but I just don't really want to take the chance. In general my luck just plain sucks, and I know something would probably happen like the day before I graduate making them kick me out.;) Funny thing is that I used to carry a knife with me all the time in high school where it would have got me into tons more trouble.

On weekends, and when not in school, I usually carry my TNT. Mainly just in case something comes up that needs cutting, and because I just like knowing it's there if I need it.I used to carry a knife for cutting up boxes at work, but have since switched to a box cutter. I broke one knife, and did some damage to the blade of my second, so I decided it would be better to let the company pay.

wow, i'm going to baylor in texas and they just echo Texas state law which says you can't carry illegal knives (double edged, or anything over 5.5"). as soon as it gets here in the mail, i'll be sporting a crkt companion around campus. sure, i'll carry it discretely, but they can't do sh*t about it, because it's not against the rules. i've been carrying my benchmade ascent II w/o problems, and in high school where knives were forbidden, i carried a crkt kiss peck deep in my pocket.

what Ming65 said.

current favorite - Beretta Busfields. Micarta for "dress", G10 with jeans. (who says only women can "accessorize"!)

I carry my EDC knives to cut stuff that needs cutting, that my teeth and fingernails aren't sharp enough to cut...Pretty simple.:).

Right pocket is my Emerson Commander, left front is my Delica. I will through in my Tops Wolf Pup from time to time just cause i like it. The delica gets most the work because i think its easier to keep sharp and tuch up than the Commander. I use it for everything from picking splinters to eating steak.

Victorinox Settler. Opening mail, picking spinters, whittling, cutting up food...I use it every day for any number of reasons. And it rides extremely well in the pocket.

I carry my Benchmade 943 for those little cutting tasks that come up everyday: envelope opening, cutting the cardboard box that was just delivered with my new knife in it, ect.

I believe that everyone should carry a knife, in everyones life there will be a situation that arises that will require a knife, whether self defense or general cutting tasks.

Unless I have some very specific purpose in mind (which nullifies the EDC concept...) I carry a knife that has a point. Literally. If it is a hawkbill, I prefer it to have a subtle curve that allows me to puncture as well as slash. I prefer a deep finger choil, and a STRONG lock. I do not like to worry about my own knife turning on me when I am busy using it on something that may require other concentration. The CRKT Professional Kasper is one knife that fulfills all of my basic needs. To top it off, it does not come off quite as intimidating as certain other blades of that I own, and is relatively LEO friendly, as I have the smaller version.:)

Because the heart wants what the heart wants.

AFCK, because it sits, heels and cuts stuff that needs cutting so I don't have to stare stupidly at things that need cutting and wonder,
"Now how the hell can I cut through that?"

I look for a knife to perform flawlessly in the tasks which I face daily.
These are not extreme, but if they are I expect the knife to be tough enough to take a little abuse, though not without damage.
Usually I want light and unobtrusive but still with circa 3.5 to 4 inch of blade.

Beyond the intrinsic value of the tool I get an odd comfort from the mechanical nature of the folder. It greatly comforts me at times when I doubt the value of my fellow man that some of them make knives which have an obvious intrinsic value.

Justify my knife? That sounds like a question that a hoplophobe would ask. So I am sorry if I sound hostile, but you need to rephrase your question before I can answer it as the way it is currently phrased leaves me too damned hostile to want to try. It sounds too much like the "liberals" (quotes to make a point) that I know.
