I posted earlier about seeming to end up with a few linerlocks when my first love is framelocks. So, here I am with another linerlock! This is the large JW Smith Evolution. Standard materials and standard method of construction, but absolute perfection in the finished product. Titanium bolsters, clip, and frame, S30V blade, and bead blasted carbon fiber grips make up this knife. As with all the JWS tactical folders I've seen, blade and liners are cut from thicker stock than most folders this size. The blade mics out at .155", while the titanium liners are .065" thick. This really helps to give extra strength and rigidity to the finished knife. Function is flawless. The blade just glides out and the lockup is solid. I have taken to spine whacking these linerlocks to ensure good lockup. On my computer table, after I pad it of course, I'll do 5 quick solid hits to see what happens to the liner engagement........as I suspected, nothing happened! Lockup is SOLID. John puts the bend in the ti spring closer to the end and this results in a stiffer spring. I've noticed this in all the Smiths I use to own and it hasn't changed in the two I now own. The bb carbon fiber grips are very grippy and have a matte finish which is very pleasing to the eye. All in all another great knife from the shop of John W. Smith!!
