I got a JYD 2 composite a while back and wanted another regular blade JYD 2 for EDC cuz I thought the composite blade was to pretty to mess up! It came in the mail the other day thank god, I hate waiting for knives! One problem though, it's a bit harder to flip than my composite blade is, usually gotta flick the wrist a little bit to get it to lock open which I don't have to do at all with my other one. Other than that, it's another awesome Kershaw  ! Hoped one of you guys might know of something good to lubricate it with or another way to get it to open just a tad easier.

Thanks again!

I had the same problem with the smaller jyd. This is what I did.
1. Lubricated the heck out the knife (not really) with BreakFree CLP. I'm sure hoppes, miltec, or white lightning would be fine too.
2. I loosened the large torx screw right there at the pivot just a touch.
3. Practice, practice, practice flipping that sucker open.

I don't know which of these made the difference. I'm sure they all made a difference because the funny thing was, I loosened that screw quite a bit. It opened waaaaay easy but it was a little loose. So I tightened it back up but probably not as tight as the factory had it (but dang close). More practice and now it opens just as fast as my AO Cyclone.

I've found Militec-1 excellent on Kershaw flippers. I'm using it on both my JYD2 and ENER-G and both open even easier now than when I had them lubed with FP-10.

once you have it right, both JYD and JYD2 should flick with NO wrist. Just takes adjustment and practice

Hey fathead! funny you should bring this up, but I got bored today...not much going on. Sooo I had been looking at that beautiful JYD II composite blade (thanks again OE!) and decided a while ago that I didn't want to mess it up by using it. I got out my little torx tool and my JYD II Ti/SG2, and, well 45 minutes later I had 2 frankendogs! The blades interchanged perfectly, locked up perfectly, blades centered perfectly, and now I have the JYD II Ti frame with the composite blade together and in the safe. I also have a JYD II G-10/SG2 to carry...man I do love that SG2!

To address your post, I polished up the PB washers, frame, and blade area under the pivot with flitz, and then applied a little Hoppes #9. Both of them open smoother than from the factory!

thanks guys! great info as usual!

how many variants of the JYD 2 are there? I only know of the two that I have, the composite, and the regular JYD 2. I know the non-composite bladed ones come in either serrated or non but are there more variants?
