JYD 2 rough feeling

My Kershaw ti junkyard dog 2 has always been really smooth opening, one of my smoothest. Today I took it out and it felt REALLY rough and "grainy" when opening and closing. I took it all apart, thinking there must be sand somewhere, and cleaned with comet and hot water, being sure to get all the comet out of the steel. Put it back together, oiled with pure silicon oil, and It was even MORE rough then before. The only thing I can think of is the fact that when I had it open, I noticed the ball bearing in the lock bar appeared to be like "flattend" instead of round. COuld this be the reason for this rough feeling? Where can I get a replacement?

Call kershaw. They have great customer service. I have had to get replacement screws and trac tec inserts before and they sent them to me with out a problem. Kershaw is a great company to deal with

I tryed calling kershaw a few days ago, but they wouldnt send me a bearing, they wanted me to send the knife in for service. Problem with that, is that The knife I have is a blem from kershawguy.

Guess ill email str and see if he could fix it. I was gonna get a tip down clip anyways.

Did you tell them it was a blem?

How did the washers look when you had it apart?

I had exactly that problem a couple of months ago, with a JYD II blem. I emailed Kershaw, told them the issue, and included my address in the email. I told them I'd fix it, but I needed to know the size of the bearing so I could buy it locally. A couple weeks later I got two little bearings in the mail. After Christmas I'll drive out the old and install the new.

care to send me one? The email I got said they couldnt send them out;

careful that you get exactly the right bearing from Kershaw directly. i had the same problem with a blem and tried to use another detent bearing as a replacement, and it ruined the knife! (It has just recently been resurrected as a fixed blade: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=801777 )

If I cant fix it, I am going to slather each side of the blade tang with jb weld, screw it together and let it set. Then Ill fill the inside of the handles with jb weld, and let it set.

Sure. Email me your address. (I have to clear out the rest of my PM's before I can receive any more.) I have to figure out their size, and once I do you can have one.
