I decided one night that I needed a knife in CPM-D2, my first thought was a para-millie but I have been buying a lot of spyderco's in the past year and I don't really like 3in folders. I have always liked the composite blades offered by kershaw and the design on the JYD IMO is the best. At first I was unsure because I thought the pocket clip was ugly and over sized but after reading through some of the reviews of this knife I could not wait any longer. I picked it up for knifeworks, which was a real pleasure and the shipping was quick. The pocket clip is not as obtrusive as I thought it would be, its actually kind of nice. The handle design reminds me of my EKI commander, fitting the hand very well and not causing strain while in use. The action is very smooth and it locks up like a bank vault with its extremely thick liner. The factory edge was nice and sharp but that's never good enough for me, when I started I notice the factory grind was not one but many angles and very uneven. After a little bit of grinding and a whole lot of polishing its just how I like it, hair splitting sharp and polished like a mirror. Looks like the kershaw mafia found me

Here's some pic's, hope ya like.

Nice choice. And yes about the handle, it just feels right when you have a good grip on it.

Now go get the other 3 models of CB's. Shallot, Leek and Tyrade. :D

Very nice edge work! What steps did you take to get the edge polished as well as you did?

Not a big fan on the looks of the Tyrade, the leek will most likely be next. The shallot is a nice looking blade but Iam not sure if I want a recurve in super steel. I'am really imperssed by this JYD though, a much nicer knife than I expected.

Well.... DMT X-coarse and fine to fix and set the angle, spyderco medium, fine, and UF ceramics then finished with 3,1,0.5,0.25 micron diamond paste.

Is that liner really "that" thick? It looks like a frame lock with G-10 on the side?

Congratulations.

I also like this Knife. I received my mine a couple of months ago and have been EDCing it ever since.

I'd go as far to say that the CB JYDII is one of the best Kershaw knives in the history of the company.

I've owned a dozen kershaws, and many other knives of other brands, and I can't get over the perfection of this thing.

Sad to say, I carry that grey/patterned G10 1725CB, resplendent with it's 'X X X X' on it (Yeah, the one I complained about!), more than the neato black real G10 1725CB my wife bought me. Awesome knives. Nice job on the polish, for sure!

That blade looks great! I got my first cb jyd LNIB for 50$ I almost lost it when it came, what a great deal! Went out and found a new one for 65$ plus shipping and tucked it away. If I handled it without knowing the price I woulda given 100$ for it easy! How do they do it??? russ:D

then finished with 3,1,0.5,0.25 micron diamond paste.

Could you elaborate on this step please. I REALLY would like to mirror polish some of my edges (perhaps using very fine sandpaper?) but I'm not sure how to do it without #1 cutting off my fingers and #2 scratching up parts of the blade.

I apply the diamond paste to MDF and strop like normal. The MDF provides a nice flat base that does not give like a leather strop eliminating the possiablity to round the edge. I just received the 3 pack of DMT diamond paste and am very happy with it, the other diamond paste that I have is from classicshaving.com, its good but the dmt paste cuts much faster. I will soon be trying the handamerican 0.25 micron spray, its said to be 12 caret. The only problem is 1/4 micron is too much for a lot of steels and thats why I usually stop at 1 micron unless the steel is capiable then is goes all the way. hope this helps a little, shoot me a pm if you need more info.
