I really like the design of the Junkyard Dog, but I felt it needed a little tweaking, so off I went...

First, the pocket clip just didn't work for me, so off to the belt sander it went. I made it as small as I could without making it look weird, or lose it's functionality. I'm not the first here to mod a JYD pocket clip, and I probably won't be the last. I performed the same mod on my JYD II, and I really like it.

Second, this was my first flipper action knife, and I thought it was a bit sticky, so I dismantled it, and polished everything that might create resistance during blade movement.

Third, I ground down the top surface of the handles near the blade. I've got some fairly big mitts, and that peaks on top of the handles just didn't feel good to me. I took the peaks down to where they were more comfortable in my hand, and still looked good. I might take them down farther, but I want to use it for a while first.

Well, I reassembled it, and I'm pleased with the mods. It feels better in my hand, opens a little easier, and IMHO looks good. It still doesn't open as easy as my JYD II, but it opens easier than before. I have a couple of other mods in store for this little gem as I get the time.
