I remember ThomasW sad Kershaw has some CPM 440V left. I really like to have JYD II with CPM 440V. More I test it - more it impresses me.
Thanks, Vassili.
For those whose knowledge of blade steel is limited (i.e. me), how does 440V compare to other 440 steel? I have a Leek with 440A and have been very happy with it. Heck, I thought it was 440C, which shows how little I know. I'm learning though. However, I haven't heard of CPM 440V. Is this a Crucible made 440 type steel?
Off topic question: Anyone know if Kershaws made with 440A sell for less now? Can they still be found NIB and if so where?
Thanks. I've heard of S60V, but didn't know any knife manufacturer was actually using it. Then I had never heard of ZDP-189 until I joined this forum.![]()
Crucible stopped making S60V(CPM 440V). What stock is out there is
all that's left. I have a Random Task with it and it really is a great steel.
I think Kershaw just used it on the Random Task and the older Avalanches.
Isn't SG2 better than S60V or S90V?
Thanks. I've heard of S60V, but didn't know any knife manufacturer was actually using it. Then I had never heard of ZDP-189 until I joined this forum.![]()
Yes, I believe we decided to use it on a Blur. We had enough material for 400 pieces or so. Probably try a new color anodizing (OD) on the scales and run them out. I'll check on availability, maybe next month. MSRP in the $130 range.
