I missed out on the limited Ti/SG2 frame lock version of the Junkyard Dog II (ok, honestly, I was to cheap to buy it:D)....so just wondering if another frame lock version, with maybe some standard/affordable steel might be possible with enough interest? Maybe even with some sprint run blades like Damascus or ZDP189, as long as the handle is still 410SS and not Ti like the previous frame lock, the price point may still remain comfortable, much like the many variations of the Shallot.

Just an idea, watcha think?
Cheers,
Dave

I voted no because it would be very heavy, less grippy than G-10, and the liner lock on the standard model is more robust than some frame locks on the market.

That being said, I would love to see some different steels in the Black G-10 or Grey G-10 scales (with a reversible smaller clip).

I could bite on some "sandbox" tan handles too...hrm...

I still think the pinnacle of the JYD is the SG2 in Ti framelock. You should just bite the bullet and find one.:D Okay, it's easy enough to say that, as I already have one, (not to rub it in;)). I tend to prefer frame locks, as well, and am really appreciating all the versions of knives that Kershaw makes with them. But maybe I'm spoiled, as I don't think I'd be interested in a Steel handled JYDII.

J, I did think about the weight issue, but, personally, I don`t mind the extra weight. If it comes in around a 6oz or so, that is what a few ZT`s weigh (although I have no ZT`s, just going by the specs). That could be the reason they used Ti in the first place for the handles. And yes, the reverse clip idea is spot on!

Grip wise, the shallot and leek SS handles can be slick at times, but overall, they both function just fine. Guess it comes down to the user, either you like SS grips or you don`t.

DD, I know, just get a Ti already. Been saying that too. They are just a bit out of my range per say, and I, like yourself, am a big fan of frame locks too. On a brighter note: The Shallot CB and S110V models are in my range.....whoohoo!

Nothing to say the steel version of the framelocks could not have a G10 scale on the non-lock side.

I like both ideas, the liner lock is one of the only things preventing me from purchasing the JYDII (not enough money for the Ti version, /sigh)

how much would it effect the price to just have the TI handles(for the weight savings) without the SG2 blade? Like TI framelock with 14C28N blade.., dunno, just a thought.

I doubt you will see a Ti frame knife without a upper end steel for the blade (at least we havent yet). It's a combo thing :)

I loved the JYD II Titanium SG2 so much I bought 2. One to use and one for the safe. I knew the first time I handled one that they were special. I have a problem with redundancy anyways. Bought 2 of the ZT205's as well. I think I may have a problem.

The G10 JYDII is like a frame lock with scales. The liner on it is just as thick as the frame on my Shallots and Storms. The JYDII CB is great deal for the money.

Agreed. Its a beastly lock on a beastly knife.
