JYD II liner engagement question

Hey guys. I was reading some older threads on liner engagement. I hear that proper lockup on a new knife shouldn't be too much, so the liner can wear. On my JYD II, the liner engages almost the full thickness of the liner. Is this too much? How quickly will the liner wear out and reach the opposite liner? Should I send it back?

thats a non issue-the issue is when it reaches the other side of the knife-but that should take many years-

what you have is about the right amount of contact so dont sweat it-

That philoshophy is dependent on who you talk to. In my experience it is really more necessary to do this with titanium locks than stainless ones like on your knife. Hardened stainless will just wear a lot better than ti. So, if 100% of the lock is behind the blade its not a big deal. I've seen some makers that do that with their ti frame locks and it doesn't seem to bother it much either until you start really spine whacking it or doing tough jobs that really stress the contact area and the lock. In normal use it shouldn't matter really but make no mistake by design the lock is supposed to self adjust so moving across the interface is normal and just shows you instantly how its breaking in.

Mine came with a contact about 7/8ths of the total lock thickness behind the blade. Since mine was used for testing quite hard though it moved out to get in behind the blade pretty quick, especially after batoning the blade through some small logs to split firewood and after using it for a series of cutting cardboard, old carpet remnants and hemp rope to test edge retention. Its going in now fully behind the blade and then some. Its a good knife. Sure stood up well to all my testing too. The only thing I don't like about it personally is the clip orientation. I also don't particularly care for the clip that much but I could live with it better if it was tip up carry. I changed my knife to that shortly after getting it though. I still think the flipper is more natural to use in tip up carry.

Prefer your clip to the original. Just did a pass arround with that knife and I thought it was a tank. Glad to see it is.
