Should I be concerned with the lock lug moved over to the far side, with just 1/4 of the blade's thickness left? It WAS 1/2 way across when I got it.
* New less than a week.
*Cut cardboard and pine wood.
*Took it apart to clean and re-oil and change clip(see my other thread).
* There is no wobble in any direction. Holds tight!

Note: I have never had a steel on steel liner lock travel that much.

What do you think?

I've had this on at least 2 that I've handled... and it IS a problem on this model (on both the lock slips all the way to the other liner, and sticks bad). My opinion?... yes. I would want one with a better fitted lock, and I'm sure Kershaw would swap it out (but, I'm not them)

I just picked up a JYD 2 yesterday, and the lock also goes to the far side of the blade (to the point that the liner lock and blade side are right in line with each other). Not a problem at the moment, but I worry that after a little wear, the lock will be shot.

weird.......i have not had this happen to butch (my JYD2), and i use it for alot of stuff. i do notice that when i open it REALLY hard it will go to the dead middle of the blade. it is usually a little less. it hasnt really moved at all.

You can apply reasonable force to blade (like heavy cutting) and see how far liner goes. Even on a Sebbie it can travel to far side.
While you have entire liner end on blade you have perfect lock. Why bother?

this has been in another thread... I've had this problem on 3 JYDII's. send it to Kershaw

gull wing,

If you send it in, please send it in to my attention, I would like to check it out. It could be possible that the liners shifted when you took it apart, and that can affect the lock up. I personally checked 20+ knives randomly this morning and found no issues. I am not saying that there are not knives out there have lock issues. I do believe that this is not an epidemic problem with the design.

I too have had this problem, with both of my JYD II knives i got for x-mas. They go to the non locking side and stick really bad. However i have since gotten new liners from kershaw and the knife locks up perfect . Even with the hardest flip and the hardest push cut , the liner will not go farther than 100 onto the lock up portion of the blade. These new liners seem a little different though. The tension seems a little different.
Matt
