I got a lnib JYD ti sg2 an few days ago that I bought on the fs Forum.

I Cant get the knife to Flip Open Every Time. Im using good pressure on the

flipper and wrist flick. Ive taken the knife apart and lubed it twice, the pivot

is as loose as possible without side to side blade play.

Ive watched a short Kershaw video with a ti JYD. The man that flips the knife

seems to flip it open soooo easily without moving his wrist.

What Can I Do to make my JYD ti open Every Time:confused: I can flip open the knife

most of the time if I hold the knife at a 180% angle(sideways) and use a hard wrist

flick which I Shouldnt Have To Do. Whats goin on??

Keep opening and closing it--you have to break it in. After a while it'll be ridiculously smooth. My two are slicker than greased lightning.

im having a similar problem, but i have a blem. hopefully i can work it out. have tried adjusting the pivot but then there is too much blade play.

Yep, couldn`t have said it better myself.

Also, another trick to "speed up" the break in process...........lube it well, then, with the knife closed, apply a little pressure on the lockbar as you open and close it multiple times (but not all the way open), just far enough to glide the BB detent on the blade tang. It helps work in the proper path and will speed up the break in time so you`ll be flippn` smoothly faster rather than later.

You don't have to dissassemble the 1725SG2. A drop of oil, allowed to drift down to the pivot on both sides of the blade - and a drop in the outter most hole on the end of the lockbar - where the pivot ball is located - is also needed. A decent gun oil - RemOil, Breakfree with CLP, or even Kleenbore, is all that is needed. Let them 'work' - gravity can be your friend here - then 'work the blade' back and forth, ie, open/close.

I have both a blem and a production. Operationally, that is open/close them - or cut with them - and they are indistinguishable. The 'real' differences are the 'XXXX' on the blade, the off-centered lamination of the SS/SG2, and the much smaller dent made in my wallet to buy the blem vs the production blade. Add to that the fact that Kershawguy's blem stock is about it for purchase nowadays, and it's a no-brainer.

I have a blem and it is smooth as silk without any break in period.

If you take the blade out and polish the washers and the area on the blade where the washers make contact that knife will open as smooth as silk.

Thanks So Much Serratededge for the tip about the lockbar tension.

How or why does this help the soomthness so fast?

Thanks Craig :D:D

For what its worth my first one was not as smooth and my flipper finger not as polished as it is now so give it some time and my bet is you'll have it comin' out each time every time before too long.

Working it a bit and improving your technique gets the job done.
The Groove, Zing, JYDII, Skyline all flip differently to me. Some I got down in a few minutes others took a couple of days.

The flipper and the OP are in Perfect Sync now:thumbup:

The blade fiilps open Every Time now. Thanks Again Serratededge:D

My pleasure clockman, glad I could help.
I`ve used that method on a couple of mine too. Seems to "marry" the BB and tang much faster. Kinda like simulating a few hundred openings in just a few minutes. It made mine happy flippers, glad you are flippin smoothly now too.
