I am not sure how, but I managed to completely overlook the JYD in my quest for a value framelock.

I have a boker trance and really like it, but I am on this quest for more framelocks that don't break the bank.

then, I was in outdoor america today and looked down and saw the shiny Junk Yard Dog.

I asked to handle it and was FLOORED by how solid it was. the flipper was dead on and the handle, while a bit small, fit my girly hands perfectly.

I shelled out my 35 bucks and went trotting along my merry way.

since getting home with it, I have decided it's my new favorit framelock. Solid lock up, great blade steel, and I absolutely love the blade shape. Kind of a fat headed drop point.

Anyway, nice job Kershaw. I have steared clear of all AO knives, but these flippers make a great option.

Nice job!:thumbup::thumbup:

Congrats on the JYD find...They are nice, aren't they?

If you're AO shy, and would like to take a look at what I think is the closest knife to a folding scalpel made today, pick up an ENER-G. Not a frame lock (but it does lock up solid), and it's unique flipper system makes it as fast, if not faster, than most AO's. And the edge is incredible! It is and has been the sharpest Kershaw right out of the box I've found.

yeah, I am really impressed with it. I've been playing with it all afternoon and can't seem to find anything I don't like with it. I will probably get rid of the graphics on it, but that's just an aesthetic thing.

thanks for the advice on the ener-g. I had a small one before and it was a great knife, but I didn't like the inserts on the handles. They tore the crap out of my slacks.

Thanks again!
Brett
