JYDII in Ti/SG2 negates ZT-301/2 purchase?

I want a ZT-302 or 301. I just cannot rationalize it. I have a number of interesting knives, but my two 1725SG2 JYDII in Ti/SG2, a production and a blem, seem to fill the same niche. No, they don't have an 'assist' in openning - they don't need it. Great ergonomics. No 3D/contour G10 - just thick Ti frames. I love S30V - and I have a bunch of it - but this 'Super Gold 2' is really as good or perhaps better at keeping a finer edge than anything I have tried. That blem variant has been a workhorse - and is insignificantly less sharp than that production model I have - and it's like a microtome!

Seriously, the JYDII in Ti/SG2 is a keeper... and may just keep me from 'trying' the ZT. Someone needs to talk me into a ZT 302/1!

I have both and though I love the Ti JYD II with SG2 it is nothing like the tank like ZT301. The Ti JYD II is a great light use knife but the ZT is an apocalypse, tear out the driver door of a truck knife.

Different animals IMO. You need both

My experience with the Ti JYD was very different than yours. I really disliked the lockup on mine & while the thin blade makes it a great slicer -> it was too thin for my tastes. At times, it felt almost SAK like.
It was not a keeper for me.

On the hand, I absolutely love my ZT0300. I actual prefer it over my Strider SNG (but not over my CRKs) The textured ti on the ZT is an absolute joy.

I find the two knives VERY different.

my quick $0.02

scooby, Just toss a D2 CB blade on the Ti frame and problem solved. ;) I finally did it with mine, and the thicker D2 tip makes for a real workhorse of a knife.

Stainz, you really can`t go wrong with a 300 series in your rotation. I think once you have used it, you`ll appreciate it even more. A beast of a folder, and and an even better value for all that you get.

I have both and agree that they are very different knives. The SG2 JYD II is more of an light use slicer and the ZT 300 is a huge beastly workhorse. Thats a good idea about putting a CPM-D2 blade into the Ti handle to have a more burly knife. I may have to pick up a blem composite JYD.

why all this thinking? do you like zt's? if yes go and buy one or two
I have 2 JYDII (CB and the sandvik) and a 0301/0500, I like them all

If I like a knife I seek for the money and when I'm ready I buy it.

a SG2 will hopefully come one day
